About Us:

The On Your Mark Academic Support Programoffers tutoring sessions to Spanish and Portuguese-speaking heritage students from the Toronto Catholic and District School Boards, grades 1 to 12.

We serve over 200 students and welcome 200 volunteers each year, aiming to support the improvement of our student’s academic performance, reversing the cycle of disadvantage. Join us and be part of our story, making a real difference in our students’ lives!

Please see below for more information about the Volunteer Supervisor position and how to apply. The OYM program will operate in an ONLINE FORMAT ONLY for the full 2025/2026 school year.

Position Available:

ONLINE VOLUNTEER SUPERVISOR (After-school hours and/or Saturday, grades 1-12)

Reports to: Program Coordinators

Time Commitment: Online, after-school (minimum 2 hours per week); After-school program runs Monday to Friday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm

OR

Online, Saturday (minimum 2 hours per week); Saturday program runs every Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00 pm.

The program starts at the end of October 2025 and runs until the end of May 2026 and we accept applications all year round.

Supervisors will work closely with elementary and/or secondary students within the Toronto Catholic and District School Boards and will act as a liaison between Program Coordinator(s) and other volunteer tutors by maintaining attendance, assisting with tracking records and ensuring the online sessions run safely and smoothly.

Who can become a Volunteer Online Supervisor?

  • MUST HAVE EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN ENGLISH
  • Maintain and collect records of attendance.
  • Update Program Coordinators of any volunteer absences and/or concerns that may have surfaced via email within a timely manner after the support session
  • Assist in regular reporting and tracking of students’ progress, accomplishments and areas of difficulty to Program Coordinator(s).
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards education and learning.
  • Email tutor or student if they are late to session for any update
  • Provide updates online to students tutors if the student or tutor is running late.
  • Supervisors and students/tutors meet online a minimum of once a week for 2 hours.All volunteers are welcome to volunteer as many days as they choose, with the minimum being a commitment of one day a week.
  • Support sessions are done in ENGLISH. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Spanish an asset but NOT necessary.
  • All volunteers must have a computer reliable internet connection, a quiet place to run the session with camera ON.
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening will be requested *
  • Minimum age of 18*
* Costs related to police clearance are covered by OYM.
* Unless you are a former student of the program or a returning Volunteer

General Information:

  1. The program starts October 2025 and ends May 2026. We accept applications all year.
  2. AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS: Online, Monday to Friday, from 4:30PM to 6:30PM
  3. SATURDAY HOURS: Online , Saturday, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM.
