Black Engineers of Canada (BEC) is a Non for Profit Professional Organization geared towards providing a safe environment for Black Engineers where they can aspire and become a better version of themselves. We empower and uplift the Black Engineers community, including youth and aspiring engineers, by advocating for equitable opportunities, enhancing living conditions, and promoting mental health improvement. We achieve this through robust mentorship programs, impactful networking events, innovative educational initiatives, safe spaces for difficult conversations, and dedicated research efforts. The Opportunity
We are searching for an Onboarding Coordinator (Volunteer) who will handle the following responsibilities by dedicating 3-5 hours weekly of volunteer time.
- Volunteer Onboarding & Coordination — Facilitating onboarding sessions, guiding new volunteers through processes, and ensuring smooth integration into the organization.
- Training & Orientation Support — Coordinating training activities, supporting new volunteers with learning materials, and collaborating with L&D to enhance training flow.
- Documentation Management — Managing onboarding documents, tracking completion, and maintaining accurate volunteer records with high attention to detail.
- Systems & Access Setup — Ensuring timely access to tools, platforms, and onboarding resources for new volunteers.
- Follow‑Up & Engagement — Conducting check‑ins, answering questions, and encouraging early engagement to support volunteer retention.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Working closely with Recruiters, Committee Leads, and L&D teams to streamline onboarding processes.
- Administrative Coordination — Supporting additional onboarding and program-related administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Onboarding or training experience preferred.
- Education in Human Resources or related fields is an asset.
- Excellent organization and collaboration skills.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Passion for volunteer engagement, inclusion, and mission-driven work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Excellent communication & presentation skills
