About Planet Watch

Planet Watch is a nonprofit, volunteer‑driven environmental education initiative dedicated to making climate literacy accessible for all ages. We create clear, hopeful learning tools, youth‑friendly programs, and a curated online library that helps communities understand climate issues and take meaningful action. Our work is grounded in inclusion, practical education, and collective care for the planet.

Role

Welcome new volunteers into Planet Watch by guiding them through a clear, supportive onboarding process. This role ensures that every new contributor feels informed, confident, and connected from their first day, and that team leaders receive volunteers who are prepared and ready to participate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the onboarding process for all new volunteers
  • Provide clear introductions to Planet Watch’s mission, culture, and expectations
  • Share role descriptions, orientation materials, and simple digital tool guides
  • Conduct welcome calls or messages to help volunteers feel supported
  • Track onboarding progress and ensure all steps are completed
  • Maintain updated onboarding documents and checklists
  • Match volunteers with team leaders and ensure smooth hand‑offs
  • Support a positive, inclusive, and mission‑aligned volunteer experience

Ideal For

A warm, organized communicator who enjoys welcoming people, answering questions, and helping volunteers feel confident and ready to contribute.

Years of Experience

•3-4 years in volunteer coordination, HR support, community engagement, or related roles

• Experience with nonprofit, educational, or environmental initiatives is an asset

• Comfort with simple digital tools for communication and tracking preferred

Time Commitment

Minimum 4 hours per week.

Eligibility

Candidates must reside in Canada and speak English.
