MS Walk Committee - Promotions Coordinator
The 2026 Victoria MS Walk takes place Sunday, May 31st. MS Walk is a one-day event happening in over 50 in-person locations in Canada where people impacted by multiple sclerosis come together. Whether you live with MS or know someone who does, MS Walk is a place to forge meaningful connections and build lifelong relationships that bring us closer toward a world free of MS.
As part of the MS Walk Committee, you will plan and execute an inclusive, engaging event to connect and empower the MS community in your region. MS impacts all Canadians, which is why we urge people to move forward together at MS Walk and help build awareness for the disease, raising much needed funds to allow us to continue to support people affected by MS. This is a great opportunity to make an impact in your community using your talent and time.
The Promotions Coordinator will help get the word out about your local MS Walk through a variety of local marketing and promotions mediums. You will have the opportunity to connect with media sponsors, engage in social media posting, write articles, put up posters, and be creative in how we engage your community in Walk.
Responsibilities:
Identify all local marketing opportunities that are popular within your community (i.e. community boards, Facebook groups, high traffic businesses/locations, media outlets, etc.)
Work with MS Walk coordinator to put together a promotions plan that will aim to drive participant registration and awareness of the event. Support marketing collateral will be provided by MS Canada such as a PSA, media release, poster, radio script, etc.
Distribute event posters throughout your community
Post on social media using established #MSWalk hashtag
Be a point of contact for media on event day as needed
Champion the Walk in your community by promoting the event and recruiting participants and day-of-event volunteers
Thinking about joining our MS Walk committee? Here’s what we are looking for:
Do you have a positive attitude and enjoy bringing positive energy to events?
Do you possess strong leadership, communication and organizational skills?
Are you passionate about supporting the MS community?
Do you have time in your schedule to join a virtual meeting once a month leading up to event day?
Can you attend the event in person on Sunday, May 31 for the whole event?
If you answered ‘yes’ to the above, we’d love to hear from you!
