Consultancy Summary
YCI is expanding its portfolio of youth innovation programs in Canada. To support this work, YCI is seeking a consultant with expertise in monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) to design learning plans and tools and lead program evaluations. The consultancy has the opportunity to expand on a project-basis for programs across Canada.
Scope of Work
This consultancy will include the following focus areas:
- Leading key components of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning for YCI domestic programs;
- Provide technical leadership for data collection, quality assurance and management of data systems;
- Conduct program evaluations to meet both internal and external MEL requirements, including participant survey design, key informant interviews and focus groups;
- Lead key components of research, data analysis and reporting, for both internal learning and donor reporting;
- Developing recommendations for future programs based on research, participant outcomes and feedback; and
- Provide technical assistance to YCI staff, volunteers and partners related to MEL, including training and capacity building.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning in the nonprofit sector;
- Strong grasp of industry best practices in survey design, interviewing and sampling methodologies;
- Exceptional ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data, including producing high-quality data visualizations, presentations and reports;
- Experience training and coaching team members in alignment with MEL strategies;
- Strong understanding and ability to learn relevant technology and systems (such as Power BI, DoveTail, AirTable, Canva, Office Suite, Zoom);
- Preference given to those with experience related to youth employment, leadership, digital skills and/or innovation;
- Fluency in English is required; French is an asset
