About the Position
The Mock Interviewer Volunteer plays an essential role in helping job seekers build confidence and develop strong interviewing skills as they work toward long‑term, meaningful employment. This volunteer position works closely with the Integrated Employment Services Team to support Clients in preparing for and practicing interview techniques that align with their job search goals. By offering realistic mock interviews and constructive, strengths‑based feedback, the volunteer helps clients communicate their abilities more effectively and improve their readiness for real employer interactions.
This role supports WoodGreen’s broader employment services, which include one‑on‑one employment counselling, job development and matching, professional development opportunities, résumé and cover letter support, and access to essential job search resources. Through this contribution, the Mock Interviewer Volunteer helps ensure clients are well‑prepared, well‑supported, and equipped to succeed in achieving employment or training opportunities.
Responsibilities
As a Mock Interviewer Volunteer with Integrated Employment Services, you will:
• Provide one‑on‑one support to job seekers registered with WoodGreen’s Integrated Employment Services to help them prepare for job interviews.
• Conduct mock interviews tailored to each client’s career interests, using interview guides and materials provided by WoodGreen.
• Document interview activities and deliver constructive, strength-based feedback to clients and their Employment Consultants to help assess readiness for real employer interviews.
• Create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment while offering excellent customer service to all clients.
• Share information about WoodGreen’s programs and services and redirect client questions or concerns to the appropriate WoodGreen staff or Employment Consultant as needed.
• Assist clients with booking appointments, workshops, or information sessions when required.
• Uphold client privacy and confidentiality while adhering to all agency policies and procedures.
Skill Development Goals
• Strengthen coaching and feedback delivery skills, including guiding clients through behavioural questions and offering clear, supportive, actionable feedback.
• Deepen understanding of recruitment and hiring practices to ensure mock interviews align with real employer expectations and industry trends.
• Develop and enhance customer service, teamwork, organizational, and communication skills to support effective client interactions and collaboration.
• Enhance knowledge of the social service environment and available community and employment resources to better support diverse job seekers.
Qualifications
• Solid understanding of employer recruitment processes and candidate screening practices.
• Proven experience delivering exceptional customer service within diverse and multicultural environments.
• Strong interpersonal abilities with clear, effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated adaptability, eagerness to learn, and resourcefulness in dynamic settings.
• Sound judgment along with effective decision‑making, time‑management, and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable navigating digital tools.
• Experience providing pre‑employment support, including résumé guidance, is an asset.
• Proficiency in an additional language is considered an advantage.
Eligibility Requirements
• Requires English proficiency at a minimum CLB Level 5–6 or higher
• Able to volunteer on site between Monday to Friday
• Be 18 years of age or older
Training will be provided. Training includes orientation to WoodGreen, program specific training sessions, and documentation procedures.
