Mentor Opportunity – Merit Award Summer Mentorship Program 2026
The Merit Award Program is seeking volunteer mentors for its 2026 Summer Mentorship Program.
This is a volunteer opportunity for professionals who want to support Merit alumni as they transition from post-secondary education into early career pathways. Mentors will help guide mentees through career planning, job search strategies, and professional development.
Eligibility
This opportunity is open to professionals with experience in their field who graduated high school in 2019 or earlier and are willing to commit time to mentoring a student or recent graduate over the summer. Applicants should be willing to share their experience, provide guidance, and support a positive learning environment.
Program Details
Duration: June to August 2026
Commitment: 3 one-on-one mentorship sessions plus a program launch orientation
Format: Virtual (Zoom, Teams, or mutually agreed platform)
What You Will Do
- Provide career guidance and mentorship to a matched mentee
- Support conversations on job search strategy, networking, and career pathways
- Assist with resume writing, interview preparation, and professional development
- Share experience, feedback, and encouragement
- Act as a professional role model

Program Structure
The program is flexible and mentee-led. Mentors and mentees will determine focus areas during their first meeting. The Merit Mentorship Committee will provide support and resources throughout the program.
