As Canada’s only not-for-profit, union-run, members’ benefit program, we work to enhance the value of union membership by creating meaningful benefits and engagement opportunities for members. Today, Union Savings works with more than 200 participating unions representing nearly three million members across Canada.

  • Developing and executing a national outreach and engagement strategy to increase awareness and participation in the Union Savings program
  • Identifying opportunities to re-engage inactive or less responsive affiliates and rebuild momentum
  • Soliciting and onboarding new unions at the national, regional, and local levels
  • Developing pitch materials and leading presentations and meetings with prospective unions and partners
  • Overseeing the work of Membership & Outreach Coordinator(s), including onboarding, direction, and day-to-day support

  • Representing Union Savings at conventions, conferences, affiliate meetings, town halls, and other events
  • Responding thoughtfully and professionally to affiliate or member concerns and ensuring strong follow-up
  • Managing the Membership & Outreach budget, including event participation, travel, and promotional spending, and assessing return on investment
  • Attending meetings with commercial partners and supporting the promotion of commercial programs as directed
  • Providing regular updates, reports, and strategic insight to Union Savings leadership on outreach activities, partnership development, and results

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, credible relationship builder, and capable leader who is comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on. You will thrive in this role if you bring:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to motivate, support, and manage staff in dynamic or distributed work environments
  • Strong experience building relationships with external stakeholders, ideally in union, member-based, not- for-profit, advocacy, or partnership-driven settings
  • The ability to develop and execute outreach, engagement, or partnership strategies across diverse audiences and regions
  • Excellent judgment, diplomacy, and confidence in handling objections, concerns, and sensitive stakeholder conversations
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through consistently
  • Experience leading through transition, building structure, and improving processes in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
  • Experience managing budgets and making thoughtful, results-oriented spending decisions
  • A proactive, self-directed approach and the ability to work independently while staying closely aligned with organizational priorities
