Position Title: Membership and Communications Coordinator

Contract: 35 hours a week, 7 month contract (September 1st, 2025, to March 31, 2026) with possible extension.

About WomanACT

WomanACT works collaboratively to eradicate violence against women and advance gender equity through community mobilization, coordination, research, policy, and education.

About the position

The Membership and Communications Coordinator will play a vital role in advancing WomanACT’s mission and vision by leading various communication strategies, including public outreach, social media management, membership engagement, event planning, and media relations. This position requires a creative, detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for gender equality. The successful candidate will work closely with the WomanACT team to implement effective communications strategies that support the organization’s research, advocacy, education, and community mobilization initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

Membership:

 Facilitate monitoring and implementation of the organizational Membership Strategy.  Develop and implement new approaches to support a growing and engaged membership.  Coordinate communications, engagement and feedback with members.  Collaborate with team members to develop creative and engaging membership marketing and

communication materials.  Create and maintain member records and data.  Provide support to WomanACT General Members, Standing Committees and Ad-Hoc Committees.  Foster partnerships with WomanACT General Members, Community Stakeholders, Standing

Committees and Ad-Hoc Committees.

Communications


• Collaborate on the development and implementation of the organizational communication strategy to reach a range of stakeholders and audiences across initiatives.


• Develop content for website, social media, marketing materials, newsletters, and blog posts
• Maintain and monitor online communications systems, including social media platforms and

Customer relationship management (CRM) i.e. Hootsuite, Keela, Canva, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.


• Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices

• Analyze and summarize web analytics to inform communications strategies
• Collaborate with WomanACT team members to assist with fundraising projects.
• Coordinate volunteers, support staff, vendors and more to support promotional events.

General Responsibilities

 Work collaboratively with team members towards the successful achievements of proposal and grant development.

 Maintain regular communication and work closely with all team members.  Oversee and collaborate with team members on implementing key performance measures,

WomanACT evaluation strategy, program progress reports and work plans.  Understand and support the Mission, Vision and Values of WomanACT  Incorporate principles of anti-oppression and equity at WomanACT  Demonstrate respect, consideration and acceptance of the opinions of others while expressing her

own expertise and effectively utilizing relevant resources and specialists.  Be receptive to new ideas and adapt to change as necessary.  Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.  Consistently collaborate with team members, sharing ideas and differences openly  Identify and mitigate risks to WomanACT.  Participate in WomanACT-wide special events, i.e. Press Conferences, Annual General Meetings, etc.  Develops and maintains effective, professional relationships with the board, staff, contractors,

funders, other key stakeholders, and the public at large.  Maintain appropriate records.  Collaborate with WomanACT team members to assist with fundraising projects.  Supports the integration of a feminist, anti-racist and anti-oppression perspective into WomanACT

initiatives.

Education and Experience

 A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Equivalent experience in a similar role may be considered.

 Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in communications, marketing, or membership coordination roles, preferably within the non-profit sector.

 Demonstrated experience in developing and executing communication strategies across various channels, including social media, websites, and email campaigns.

 Proven track record of successful membership engagement and growth initiatives.  Experience in event planning and coordination, including virtual and in-person events.  Familiarity with data management and CRM systems for maintaining accurate member records.  Strong experience in content creation, including writing, editing, and producing marketing materials.  Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, with a focus on community

engagement and relationship-building.  Demonstrated advanced knowledge of gender equity and gender-based violence issues  Demonstrated experience in successful marketing strategies is highly desirable.

Technical competencies:

 Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva), digital marketing tools (e.g., MailChimp, Survey Monkey, Hootsuite, Keela), and project management software (e.g. Monday.com) is highly desirable.

 Demonstrated strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, social media, and presentation tools (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)

 Strong project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.  Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000

Hours of Work: This position is full-time (35 hours/week).

Location: Successful candidates will be required to work both from our office at 1652 Keele Street and remotely from home, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in their work arrangements.
