Media Relations Coordinator / Coordonnateur(trice) des relations avec les médias
Media Relations Coordinator
Permanent, Full-Time Position
Office: Green Party of Canada
Reports to: Communications Director
Location: Ottawa
Closing date: July 31, 2026
The Green Party of Canada is looking for a talented, highly motivated communicator to be our Media Relations Coordinator, and to help us build something new.
Are you concerned about the climate crisis, the impacts of increasing inequality and the state of Canadian democracy? Do you love telling a good story and working for a cause that fuels your passion? Are you as comfortable working a phone with a Parliamentary reporter as you are pitching to podcasts and influencers?
A small party with a big message needs someone who can win us coverage in the mainstream media, help us build relationships with the podcasters, creators and independent voices who drive political conversations in Canada, and help Greens break through, wherever Canadians are paying attention.
About the role
Working under the direction of the Communications Director, the Media Relations Coordinator is the party’s front line with the media and a key voice in shaping how we reach Canadians directly. The Media Relations Coordinator will support the work of the party, the Leader, and the caucus by fielding media inquiries, writing media advisories and releases, building relationships with journalists, podcasters and creators, and helping to develop the party’s owned-media strategy.
This is a work from home position in the greater Ottawa area, with attendance on Parliament Hill required as-needed for media events and caucus support. The Media Relations Coordinator must be fluently bilingual in English and French.

- Organize press conferences, media availabilities, scrums and other events as needed.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with English and French media, and proactively pitch stories, angles and interviews to journalists across the country.
- Identify opportunities for earned media and media outreach, and stay abreast of legislative and current issues on which the Leader or caucus may be questioned or wish to comment.
- Identify and coordinate responses to falsehoods and misinformation, issuing corrections as needed.
- Ensure all messaging is consistent with the Green Party of Canada voice and brand.
- Manage and maintain media lists.
Podcaster & Influencer Relations
- Develop and maintain relationships with podcasters, independent journalists, content creators and influencers whose audiences align with Green Party values.
- Identify and secure opportunities for the Leader and caucus to appear on relevant podcasts, streams and creator platforms, and prepare them for those appearances.
- Monitor the independent and creator media landscape for opportunities, emerging voices and conversations the Green Party should be part of.
Owned Media
- Help develop and shape the party’s owned media strategy as part of the communications team.
- Contribute to owned-media content planning.
- Help set goals for owned media and interpret performance data to refine the party’s approach over time.
Leader, party & caucus support
- Monitor media coverage and provide weekly reports to the Leader, caucus and staff.
- Prepare research, briefing notes and talking points for media interviews and content appearances as needed.
- Attend events and receptions with the Leader as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
