OASW is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to assume the role of Marketing Specialist on a 12-month contract. In this position, you will help tell the story of OASW, support member engagement, and promote the value of social work in Ontario. This role combines planning and strategic thinking with hands-on work, shaping marketing strategies and plans, designing materials, and ensuring members and the public know about OASW’s programs, services, and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  1. Marketing Strategies and Plans
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the profession, foster member engagement, and promote the success of OASW’s programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of marketing plans and tactics to promote OASW’s professional development offerings, networking programs, awards program, volunteer recruitment, and other key benefits, programs and services.
  • Develop marketing strategies and tactics to improve audience segmentation and targeting.
  • Develop and execute the Association’s marketing and social media strategy, including developing digital campaigns, content marketing and creating accessibility standards for all communications, in collaboration with the Communications Specialist
  • Co-create and co-manage the organization’s social media content calendar, taking lead on marketing content development and monitoring.
  • Develop and implement paid social media content and advertising campaigns.
  • Lead the development of membership marketing materials, including membership drives, member orientation and welcome packages.
  • In collaboration with Communications Specialist, design, manage and update OASW’s website content, including search engine optimization, developing member personas, creating marketing content, in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (staff, board, volunteers) to align marketing with organizational priorities.

2. Project Management

  • Lead the tracking and reporting of key marketing metrics (e.g., engagement, participation, growth, etc.).
  • Coordinate and manage the organization’s email communications calendar.
  • Coordinate content, format and distribute member email communications using an HTML email editor.
  • Project manage the marketing of OASW’s annual Social Work Week and Social Work Month campaign, including leading the execution of event marketing, merchandise coordination and digital assets.
  • Project manage the planning, production, registration marketing, tracking and evaluation of corporate events, including the Annual General Meeting.
  • Track marketing budgets and, where needed, work with external vendors (designers, printers, photographers).

3. Brand Standards and Graphic Design

  • Develop and maintain brand standards, style guide and corporate templates.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for email, social media, print and website that follow OASW’s brand standards and support the execution of communications and marketing plans.
  • Provide in-house graphic design and layout support as required.
  • Ensure marketing and communications reflect diverse voices, inclusive language, representation and accessibility.

4. Support Communications

  • Support the design and layout of the Association’s Annual Report, as well as the distribution strategy.
  • Support the coordination of translation needs.
  • Provide back-up support for communications initiatives, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role as a one-person marketing team. Experience working cross-functionally to support multiple departments and initiatives. Experience in a non-profit organization, the social work or social services sectors, or a membership association will be considered an asset.
  • Education: University degree or college diploma in communications, public relations, marketing or related field of study. A degree in social work will be considered an asset. Commitment to ongoing learning, professional growth, and development opportunities.
  • Language: French verbal and written communication skills will be considered an asset.
  • Skills: Demonstrated skills and experience in project management. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Superior copywriting skills. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Marketing & Design Skills: Demonstrated success in developing and implementing creative and engaging marketing plans and tactics. Strong sense of design and experience developing graphics for email, social media, websites and other digital platforms.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with iMIS or other CRMs, HTML email marketing platforms (MailChimp), design software (Adobe, Canva), social media / social media management platforms, web content management systems, data visualization tools, marketing dashboards, Google Analytics, HTML, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, online survey platforms, and Asana or other project management programs will be considered an asset.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven strategic thinking skills and a visionary approach to marketing. Innovative mindset with a track record of implementing successful and unique strategies. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment with initiative and professionalism. Commitment to staying abreast of emerging trends.

Reports to: Manager, Member Experience

Salary: $70,000

Contract: 12 months, with potential for renewal
