About The Role

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator manages, coordinates, and delivers timely marketing tactics, communications, media strategies, and education initiatives designed to raise awareness, improve access to justice, support knowledge management, and increase client and public (advocacy) engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads our website refresh, ensuring copy and imagery are accurate, accessible, compelling, and align with our feminist history, deep commitment to the labour movement and working families, and empowering people to speak out against injustice, and bold, path-setting litigation. Maintains and updates website content to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Supports the knowledge management through collecting, organizing, monitoring, and disseminating timely internal and external communications on significant trends, legislative developments, precedents, and legal expertise. Translates legal, policy, or human rights information into clear, plain-language.
  • Manages marketing and communications editorial calendar and content across all social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, etc.), including digital campaigns.
  • Builds media campaigns to highlight underrepresented causes, elevate public interest issues, support advocacy and outreach efforts, and influence public opinion.
  • Supports the development of blog posts, articles, and op-eds on critical cases, social justice and equity issues.
  • Monitors public feedback to proactively manage and address issues.
  • Ensures brand and message consistency across all communication channels and digital touchpoints.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with community organizations, non-profits, and legal stakeholders.
  • Plans, organizes, executes internal workshops, client legal education sessions and webinars, including managing budgets, timelines, AV, vendors, marketing, logistics, and coordinating support staff to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manages virtual event platforms to set up registration pages, manage attendee logistics, and provide technical support during live sessions.
  • Oversees strategy, budget and processing of sponsorships and corporate donations.
  • Leads law awards nominations driven by compelling, evidence-based narratives.
  • Tracks metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication and knowledge-sharing activities, using data to refine future strategies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Digital marketing and communications experience, including social media.
  • Exceptional storytelling and writing skills tailored for diverse audiences and channels. Journalism experience including researching, interviewing, writing, and editing is preferred.
  • Versatile marketing content creation for print, websites, social media, and audience engagement.
  • Strategic, ethical approach to using media, digital platforms, and writing to advance equity, access to justice, and systemic change.
  • Proficiency in creating wireframes, prototypes, and journey maps to visualize the user experience before development.
  • Experience in end-to-end coordination of events, workshops and/or webinars, from planning and technical setup to promotional campaign execution and post-event analysis.
  • Understanding of social and political forces that affect media exposure.
  • Deep commitment to social justice and equity, dismantling systemic barriers, fostering inclusion, and actively promoting fair outcomes.
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of integrity.
  • Degree in Marketing, Communications and/or Humanities.
  • Digital expertise in Facebook Ads, Google Ad Manager, Analytics, Hootsuite, CMS/ WordPress, Canva, Microsoft Office, and HTML, and/or related.

Additional Assets

  • Supplemental UX-specific certification(s).
  • Written and spoken intermediate/advanced French.

Accessibility and Work Environment

The physical demands of this position may require the incumbent to spend extended periods of time sitting, walking, bending, and use keyboards, including working at a computer monitor and operating office equipment, such as photocopiers and printers.

Our office is in a three-floor heritage building with elevator access and automated doors. Our workplace has gender-neutral washrooms on all three floors, and ergonomic options available. The building includes fluorescent lighting and ambient noise from neighbouring offices due to the age of the building. We strive to maintain a scent-free and nut-free environment.

Salary: $70,000 based on 35 hours a week.

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, pension participation, personal/paid-sick days entitlements, and three weeks vacation per year.

Location: 474 Bathurst Street, Toronto, ON. The successful candidate will be expected to work hybrid, three days a week at our Toronto office, subject to Manager approval.

Term: Full-time indefinite.

Unit: Non-bargaining.
