About Us: hEr VOLUTION is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for young women and non-binary youth in STEM fields. We work with industry leaders, educational institutions, and community partners to break barriers and foster inclusivity in STEM careers.

Work Week Duration: This is an unpaid leadership role requiring 8 to 10 hours per week. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate volunteers' commitments.

JOB DUTIES

As a Marketing Chair, you will support the organization’s mission by managing marketing functions tailored to a volunteer-driven, impact-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Marketing and Communications: Develop, lead, and evaluate marketing and communications strategy in alignment with organizational goals. Ensure the organization’s messaging is consistent and reflective of its mission, vision, and values.
  • Asset and Collateral Distribution: Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials, including digital content, newsletters, social media, and press releases. Maintain and support branding standards across all platforms and initiatives.
  • Training and Development: Manage and support a team of volunteer committee members; recruit and onboard new members as needed. Coordinate professional development opportunities for volunteers and staff, including mentorship programs and leadership training. Lead regular meetings internally within the Marketing Committee.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholder (e.g., Fundraising/Programming) committees to ensure timely and accurate promotion of campaigns, events, and programs.
  • Administration and Reporting: Prepare and present monthly reports for Board meetings, summarizing key activities, analytics, and strategic insights. Monitor marketing performance metrics and report outcomes to the Board. Stay up-to-date with digital marketing trends, nonprofit sector practices, and media opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership Orientation: Collaborative and inclusive leadership style with experience in marketing, communications, or related fields (experience in nonprofit or social impact sector an asset).
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, including ability to think strategically and manage multiple initiatives and team members simultaneously.
  • Technology Stack: Familiarity with marketing tools such as Mailchimp, MailerLite, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Canva, Meta Business Suite, etc., is preferred.

  • Outcomes Orientation: You meet deadlines and deliverables with measurable outcomes aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives and key results.
  • Initiative and Problem Solving: You are proactive and seek solutions to communication problems and opportunities before they arise, working with other committee members to understand what upcoming events and campaigns need to be communicated.
  • Engagement and Leadership: Regularly check in with hEr VOLUTION members to maintain engagement levels with internal volunteers and stakeholders.

  • Remote Work: This role is fully remote, allowing flexibility for volunteers and interns.
  • Collaborative Virtual Environment: Regular online meetings and digital collaboration tools will be used to engage with the team.
