As the Marketing & Communications Specialist, you will lead and execute a holistic, omnichannel marketing and communications strategy that strengthens our brand, grows our national presence and connects with businesses across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Brand Strategy

  • Collaborate on the development and drive the execution of an integrated, omnichannel marketing strategy that supports the organization’s mission and growth objectives.
  • Identify and activate brand and promotion opportunities across the marketing funnel.
  • Develop and manage compelling content and creative assets for digital and print channels such as presentation decks, event materials, and brochures to ensure consistency and maximize audience engagement.
  • Own and manage campaign timelines, marketing calendars, and communications workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Programs, Engagement, Global Compact Office, Regional Offices, other Network Offices) to support go-to-market strategies for new programs and innovations.
  • Develop post-campaign reports, analyze performance metrics, and share insights to continuously improve campaign impact.
  • Act as a brand champion and ensure consistent use of brand guidelines across all touchpoints.
  • Support market and audience research, persona development, and competitive analysis to inform campaign strategy and audience segmentation.

Communications & Media Relations

  • Design and implement a strategic communications plan to position the UN Global Compact Network of Canada as a national thought leader in corporate sustainability.
  • Create and edit high-quality content, including press releases, key messages, briefing notes, speeches, and newsletters.
  • Manage media relations, build relationships with journalists, and secure earned media coverage.
  • Liaise with other UN Global Compact offices to align messaging with global campaigns and communications.

Digital & Web Management

  • Oversee the website and associated microsites, including content development, UX optimization, SEO strategy, and regular content audits.
  • Ensure digital platforms are accessible, on-brand, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Manage digital tools such as WordPress, Hootsuite, Adobe, Salesforce/Pardot, Canva, and others.

Collaboration

  • Establish internal marketing workflows to ensure coordination and consistency across programs and campaigns.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to execute seamless, data-informed campaigns and storytelling.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, including brand strategy, campaign execution, and content development.
  • Proven experience managing omnichannel campaigns across web, email, social, and print.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt voice and tone for different audiences.
  • Experience with website management, SEO, and CMS tools (e.g., WordPress, Elementor).
  • Familiarity with digital analytics tools and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce/Pardot).
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, hybrid team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred

  • Experience in sustainability, ESG, social impact or corporate responsibility sectors.
  • Background in B2B marketing
  • Bilingualism in English and French is a strong asset.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • For selected candidates, the HR team of the UN Global Compact Network Canada will conduct an initial 30-minute screening call and a secondary 15-minute screening call.
  • For first-round candidates, the leadership team will conduct a 45-60 minute interview focused on competencies, skills, and experience.
  • For second-round candidates, the leadership team will conduct a 45-60 minute interview focused on competencies, skills, and experience.
