Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience
Reports to: Director of Marketing
Location: Hybrid/remote, with occasional in-person work at CANFAR’s Toronto office and at CANFAR events
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for managing and delivering CANFAR’s day-to-day marketing and communications activities across digital channels, campaigns, events and organizational initiatives.
This is a hands-on role for a highly organized and creative communicator who can manage multiple projects, create and coordinate content, maintain CANFAR’s digital presence, and help move marketing and communications priorities from planning through to execution.
The Manager will work closely with internal teams, partners, vendors and event stakeholders to promote CANFAR’s mission, programs, events and fundraising initiatives and help grow awareness and engagement across Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content
- Own and maintain CANFAR’s social media content calendar and day-to-day channel management.
- Create, coordinate, schedule and publish engaging content across social media platforms.
- Develop content for campaigns, programs, events, fundraising initiatives and organizational updates.
- Coordinate content, approvals, assets and timelines with internal teams and external partners.
- Monitor social channels, identify opportunities and stay current with relevant trends and conversations.
- Track and report on social media performance and recommend opportunities for improvement.
Website Management
- Manage day-to-day content updates and maintenance of CANFAR’s website using WordPress and Elementor.
- Create and update web pages, program and event content, project highlights, calls to action and other digital content.
- Support website design and layout improvements and ensure content is current, accurate and engaging.
- Coordinate larger website projects and updates with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure website content supports marketing, communications, fundraising and event priorities.
Project Management
- Maintain and manage the marketing and communications pipeline, ensuring projects move forward on schedule.
- Coordinate timelines, deliverables, approvals, assets and stakeholders across multiple projects.
- Support the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications campaigns.
- Help identify gaps, opportunities and new ways to strengthen CANFAR’s communications and reach.
- Maintain organized marketing and communications resources, templates and collateral.
Events Promotion
- Lead marketing and communications support for CANFAR events and initiatives.
- Develop and execute event promotion across social media, website, email, event calendars and other channels.
- Coordinate event communications, promotional assets, partner outreach and timelines.
- Support audience and stakeholder outreach to drive event awareness, participation and engagement.
- Help ensure event-related content and communications are delivered consistently and on time.
Fundraising Support
- Support the marketing and communications needs of CANFAR’s development and fundraising activities.
- Assist with special fundraising projects, campaigns, appeals and donor-facing communications.
- Develop and coordinate communications materials to support fundraising and organizational priorities.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to promote CANFAR’s impact and programs.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience in marketing, communications, digital media, content, or a related field.
- Strong experience managing social media channels and content calendars.
- Experience creating, coordinating and publishing digital content.
- Experience managing websites, preferably using WordPress and Elementor.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Experience supporting events, campaigns or fundraising initiatives is an asset.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is an asset.
- Bilingual English/French is an asset.
- Non-profit, fundraising, advocacy or health-sector experience is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, digital media or a related field is preferred but not required.
