MANAGING EDITOR, NARRATIVE INTEGRITY DESK — VOLUNTEER, FULL-TIME

Time Commitment: Full-time volunteer commitment, 35 hours per week. Duration negotiable, four month minimum.

This is a remote volunteer opportunity with Right to Live Canada, a virtual-office based Canadian non-profit start-up.

------ THE MISSION

Right to Live Canada exists to realize the right to live as a practical, supported, executable choice.

We were founded in response to systemic poverty-driven euthanasia amongst Canadians with disabilities: cases where Canadians choose MAiD because they cannot access the essentials required to continue living. This is a specific form of economic euthanasia: euthanasia where a preferable living future existed, but was not achieved.

That crisis remains our founding application point. It is not the boundary of our work.

Right to Live Canada is building Continuity: the service, financial, technological, and institutional architecture required to keep life connected to preferable living futures. We work from the recognition that biological escape velocity may become achievable for a significant portion of people alive today, and that the right to live must now be pursued with the seriousness, urgency, and scale appropriate to that possibility.

Our four core areas are:

• Continuity Service — developing a service to identify, propose, finance and execute preferable living futures in the event of potential death.
• Continuity Insurance — developing a finance model for Continuity Service in the event of potential death scenarios.
• Social Brokerage — developing a system to productize and sell the anonymized outcome of a life supported to the global market as an impact product in exchange for the capital to accomplish it, in order to fund those who cannot afford Continuity Service or Insurance.
• Corporate Farming — developing a global-scale system to take concepts, form a structure around them starting with a team, incubate them internally and nurture their growth towards incorporation, and then emit them as formed non-profits dedicated to their founding concept such as a technology, project, infrastructure or issue.

Right to Live Canada is a founder-centric, early-stage non-profit pursuing rapid national and global expansion. We use the advantages of the non-profit form—volunteer-class labor, sponsorship sales, grants, subsidized infrastructure, open development, impact monetization, and institutional farming—to uphold and extend the right to live for humans and, ultimately, other conscious beings.

------ ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is a full-time, volunteer, and remote role for the Managing Editor, Narrative Integrity Desk within the Global Narrative Integrity Team at Right to Live Canada.

The Managing Editor is responsible for directing the day-to-day editorial operations of the Narrative Integrity Desk. This position ensures that the organization's monitoring, research, fact-checking, editorial review, and outreach activities are executed efficiently, consistently, and according to established editorial standards.

Working closely with the Head of Global Narrative Integrity and Deputy Director, the Managing Editor oversees the organization's daily workflow by assigning projects, coordinating priorities across departments, supervising editorial quality, and ensuring that every evidence package, briefing note, and outreach initiative meets professional standards before publication or distribution.

The successful candidate will manage Editorial Coordinators and work collaboratively with Media Intelligence, Research & Evidence, Public Affairs, Editorial Outreach, and Digital Operations to transform emerging narratives into evidence-based briefing materials suitable for journalists, policymakers, researchers, and institutional partners.

This role combines newsroom leadership, editorial judgment, project management, and organizational coordination. It is ideal for someone who enjoys managing complex editorial workflows, mentoring volunteers, and maintaining exceptionally high standards of quality within a collaborative public affairs environment.

As the organization grows, the Managing Editor will play a leading role in developing editorial policies, improving operational efficiency, mentoring future editorial leaders, and helping scale the Global Narrative Integrity Team into a world-class volunteer newsroom dedicated to protecting the integrity of the public record.

------ PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

• Lead the daily editorial operations of the Narrative Integrity Desk.
• Assign monitoring, research, fact-checking, and outreach projects to department coordinators and volunteers.
• Coordinate editorial priorities with the Head of Global Narrative Integrity and Deputy Director.
• Supervise Editorial Coordinators and ensure effective workload distribution.
• Review evidence packages, briefing notes, policy summaries, and journalist outreach materials before release.
• Maintain editorial standards for clarity, professionalism, factual accuracy, and source transparency.
• Conduct editorial quality assurance to ensure all organizational outputs meet established standards.
• Facilitate daily editorial briefings and coordinate weekly editorial review meetings.
• Monitor project deadlines and ensure timely completion of departmental deliverables.
• Collaborate with Media Intelligence, Research & Evidence, Editorial Outreach, Public Affairs, and Digital Operations to maintain an efficient cross-functional workflow.
• Identify opportunities to improve editorial processes, volunteer training, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain documentation of editorial decisions, workflow improvements, and organizational best practices.
• Support the onboarding and mentorship of new editorial volunteers as the organization expands.

This is a leadership position requiring exceptional organizational ability, editorial judgment, and collaborative leadership. The Managing Editor serves as the operational hub of the Narrative Integrity Desk, ensuring that volunteers across multiple departments work together to produce timely, accurate, and evidence-based public affairs content. The expected commitment is 35+ hours per week, with additional flexibility during periods of increased organizational activity.

------ QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Experience in editorial leadership, journalism, communications, publishing, public affairs, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing editorial workflows, publications, or multidisciplinary projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong editing, proofreading, and quality assurance abilities.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects while maintaining editorial quality.
• Comfort working remotely with a high degree of ownership, initiative, and accountability.
• Experience leading collaborative teams and mentoring volunteers or junior staff.
• Professional judgment, reliability, and discretion when handling organizational communications.
• Commitment to a full-time volunteer schedule of approximately 35 hours per week.

Preferred

• Experience working within a newsroom, media organization, communications agency, nonprofit, or public affairs environment.
• Familiarity with editorial style guides, fact-checking methodologies, and evidence-based communication.
• Experience managing remote editorial teams using collaborative project management tools.
• Knowledge of media intelligence, public policy, research synthesis, or strategic communications.
• Experience developing editorial policies, operational workflows, or publication standards.
• Interest in helping build a globally recognized public affairs organization dedicated to strengthening narrative integrity and evidence-based journalism.

This is a full-time volunteer role requiring a minimum commitment of 35 hours per week. Right to Live Canada is an early-stage, founder-led organization pursuing rapid national and global expansion. The role is best suited to someone who is comfortable with startup intensity, high responsibility, and a culture of serious dedication to the mission.
