This position reports to the Director, Partnerships & Transformation and works closely with the Director, Strategy and teams across the organization to deliver high-quality partnership outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prospecting and Landscape Strategy (40%)
This role identifies and cultivates partnerships by mapping the funding landscape and building a strategic prospect pipeline for maximum CFC impact.
Responsibilities include:
- Accountable for mapping the Canadian and international funding and partnership landscape, including priority sectors, funder trends, strategic shifts and emerging opportunities
- Accountable for developing a robust pipeline of prospective partners through ongoing research and sector scanning and recommending priority outreach pathways
- Responsible for developing re-engagement strategies for lapsed partners
- Responsible for identifying and flagging emerging opportunities (new funds, initiatives, public calls, sector shifts) and recommending where to focus cultivation efforts
- Responsible to cultivate high-potential prospects through exploratory meetings, funder convenings, and sector engagement
Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Funding Opportunity Management (15%)
This role ensures CFC responds strategically to formal funding opportunities by evaluating fit, coordinating internal inputs, and producing compelling, high-quality submissions.
Responsibilities include:
- Accountable for monitoring, evaluating, and coordinating responses to RFPs and formal funding opportunities, including go/no-go recommendations
- Responsible for leading the internal RFP process: coordinating inputs, setting timelines, writing and ensuring high-quality submissions
Opportunity Development: Analysis and Screening (10%)
This role recommends early-stage opportunities by assessing strategic fit, coordinating feasibility assessment, and preparing clear recommendations to guide decision-making.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for conducting early-stage opportunity screening and qualification against eligibility criteria and partnership suitability
- Accountable for conducting early-stage opportunity evaluation by coordinating internal inputs and preparing strategic recommendations
Pitch and Proposal Development and Branding (20%)
This role translates partnership opportunities into compelling, on-brand proposals and pitch materials that clearly communicate CFC's value and secure funding commitments.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for drafting, editing and branding core proposal and deck content, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with CFC’s voice, brand and strategic priorities
- Responsible for coordinating internal review cycles and incorporating feedback efficiently to move materials to final
- Responsible for maintaining and improving core pitch assets and partner-ready templates to increase speed and consistency
Portfolio Support (10%)
This role ensures partnership opportunities are strategically aligned with organizational capacity and priorities by maintaining pipeline intelligence, providing strategic insights, and coordinating cross-functional planning.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for maintaining the emerging opportunities pipeline documentation and contribute strategic insights to overall partnerships strategy
- Accountable for leading cross-functional coordination to ensure partnership opportunities align with organizational capacity and strategic priorities
Other Responsibilities (5%)
This role demonstrates flexibility to support team and organizational priorities, as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for demonstrating flexibility and readiness to assist across various tasks within CFC as needed, attend meetings/events, and meet the needs of partners and stakeholders
- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the funding and partnership ecosystem
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated 3-5 years of experience in prospect research, qualification, and strategic prioritization of partnership opportunities
- Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to map a landscape, identify trends, and translate prospect intelligence into clear recommendations and briefing notes
- Demonstrated experience in partnerships, fundraising, or revenue development within a nonprofit or philanthropic context, including leading RFP responses, stewarding funder relationships, and communicating impact
- Excellent written communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to draft persuasive proposals, pitch decks, and partner-facing materials that are polished and on-brand
- Strong visual design skills and experience with design software
- Strong project management skills, including driving internal coordination, managing deadlines and review cycles, and moving work forward across multiple stakeholders
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and systems change, with the ability to apply these lenses to partnership work and collaboration
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work non-traditional hours to support time-sensitive opportunities, partner needs, and convenings
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Familiarity with government or institutional funding processes and formal procurement/RFP environments
- Experience supporting budget tracking, resourcing, or basic financial inputs for partnership-funded work
- Experience with impact reporting and outcomes/metrics storytelling
- Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset
