ROLE

Endeavour Consulting for Non-Profits is seeking a Manager of Tax & Compliance to lead and oversee our regulatory reporting, tax filings, and corporate governance compliance. As a registered non-profit operating in Ontario, maintaining flawless compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines and provincial regulatory bodies is critical to our mission.

Working directly with the VP of Finance and the Board Treasurer, this leadership-track volunteer role ensures Endeavour remains fully compliant, transparent, and aligned with Canadian non-profit tax laws and provincial corporate registration mandates. If you are an accounting or tax professional looking to apply your technical knowledge to strengthen social sector stewardship, this role offers high-visibility leadership and impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • CRA & Regulatory Filings: Lead the preparation, review, and timely filing of annual statutory returns, including the CRA T3010 (Registered Charity Information Return) or T1044 / T2 nonprofit returns, ensuring accurate donation receipting and fund classification.
  • Ontario Corporate Compliance: Oversee provincial governance obligations, ensuring corporate filings, director registration updates, and registered office changes are submitted to the Ontario Ministry within required statutory timelines (e.g., 15-day window for director updates).
  • Internal Audit & Governance Oversight: Review internal financial controls, expense management workflows (including Float virtual card usage and receipt integrity), and monthly reconciliations to ensure audit readiness.
  • Policy & Tax Advisory: Provide guidance to the executive team on tax-exempt operations, CRA donation receipting guidelines, GST/HST rebate filings, and evolving regulatory rules affecting Canadian charities and non-profits.
  • Corporate Minute Book & Records: Maintain the organization's legal minute books, central compliance calendars, and official regulatory filings in organized cloud repositories.
  • Board & Leadership Reporting: Present quarterly compliance status updates and risk assessments to the Finance Committee and Board Treasurer.

QUALIFICATIONS

Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field. Pursuing or completed professional accounting designation (CPA) or tax certification is a strong asset.

Experience: 3+ years of professional accounting, corporate compliance, or tax preparation experience.

Non-Profit / Charity Expertise: Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing Canadian non-profit tax filings (T3010, T1044, or T2) and familiarity with CRA charitable compliance rules.

Provincial Legislation Knowledge: Understanding of Ontario non-profit compliance standards (e.g., ONCA / Ontario Corporations Act, director registration updates).

Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets.

Soft Skills: Meticulous attention to detail, strong ethical judgment, and the ability to explain complex compliance requirements to non-finance volunteers and leaders.

BENEFITS

  • Direct Executive Impact: Play a pivotal role in maintaining the trust, legal standing, and operational transparency of a growing non-profit.
  • Governance Leadership: Build direct experience working with executive leadership, the VP of Finance, and the Board Treasurer on fiduciary oversight.
  • Professional Networking: Connect and collaborate with a diverse network of skilled professionals across management consulting, industry, and the social sector.
  • Continuing Education: Sharpen your practical application of Canadian non-profit tax law, CRA rules, and provincial corporate compliance.
  • Flexible Engagement: Remote position with flexible scheduling designed to accommodate full-time working professionals.
  • Community Leadership: Make a tangible social impact by keeping Endeavour healthy, compliant, and focused on serving the non-profit community.

Please Note: Endeavour Consulting for Non-Profits is a 100% volunteer-driven organization, and all roles are unpaid. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your professional skills to make a meaningful community impact while broadening your governance leadership portfolio.
