Manager, Programs and Community Outreach

Job Title: Manager, Programs and Community Outreach

Location: Hybrid – Toronto/remote

Status: 14-month contract

About Pancreatic Cancer North America (PCNA)

Every person diagnosed with pancreatic cancer deserves access to support, information, advocacy, and the best possible chance at survival. Yet pancreatic cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers in the world, with survival rates that have lagged behind most other major cancers for decades.

Pancreatic Cancer North America (PCNA) exists to fundamentally change the way patients, caregivers, and communities experience pancreatic cancer. We provide trusted support and resources today while driving the research, awareness, and advocacy needed to improve outcomes tomorrow.

As pancreatic cancer incidence continues to rise, particularly among younger populations, the need for action has never been greater. By bringing together patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, advocates, and donors, PCNA is building a movement focused on one shared goal: transforming pancreatic cancer from one of the deadliest cancers to one that is detected earlier, treated more effectively, and ultimately survived.

The Opportunity

PCNA is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Manager, Programs and Community Outreach to oversee the day-to-day management and ongoing development of our patient, caregiver, and community support initiatives. The Manager will coordinate and enhance programs designed to support those affected by pancreatic cancer, helping to strengthen referral pathways, foster healthcare and community partnerships and create meaningful opportunities for patient and caregiver engagement.

Through outreach, community-building and the stewardship of patient and caregiver voices, the Manager will help ensure the experiences of those impacted by pancreatic cancer remain at the centre of our work. While the primary focus of this role is supporting communities across Canada, the Manager may occasionally collaborate with colleagues, partners, and individuals across North America in support of PCNA's broader mission.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract position with an anticipated term of approximately 14 months. While recruited as a contract role, future employment opportunities may become available based on organizational needs and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement and Access

  • Execute PCNA's national community engagement strategy to increase awareness of, and participation in, patient and caregiver support programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, cancer centres, allied health professionals, patient organizations and community partners to strengthen referral networks and expand program reach.
  • Monitor engagement trends, community needs, and access barriers to identify underserved populations, geographic gaps, and opportunities for targeted outreach and support.
  • Promote the integration of PCNA's programs and resources within healthcare and community navigation pathways, helping to ensure patients and caregivers are connected to support at the right time in their experience.

Program Delivery, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of patient, caregiver and community support programs, ensuring a seamless, compassionate and timely experience for individuals engaging with PCNA.
  • Manage program intake, documentation, follow-up activities, and resource navigation, maintaining accurate records of participant interactions and engagement within organizational systems.
  • Monitor program utilization, community feedback, and emerging needs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, increased accessibility, and enhanced program effectiveness.
  • Track and analyze key engagement metrics, including program participation, referrals, resource utilization, geographic reach, digital engagement and community involvement.
  • Prepare regular reports, insights and recommendations to support program planning, impact measurement, donor stewardship and organizational decision-making.
  • Contribute qualitative and quantitative data, including patient and caregiver impact stories, to support reporting, fundraising, communications and awareness initiatives.

Community Voice and Story Stewardship

  • Build trusted relationships with patients, caregivers and community members to identify and elevate lived experiences that reflect the impact of pancreatic cancer and PCNA's work.
  • Collect, document and steward patient and caregiver impact stories, testimonials, and community feedback, ensuring appropriate consent, accuracy and respectful representation.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to support the development of authentic, community-informed content that raises awareness of programs, services and impact.
  • Serve as a steward of community voices throughout the storytelling process, helping to ensure stories remain authentic, accurate and aligned with the experiences shared by participants.
  • Administer and moderate PCNA's online community channels, including a Facebook support group, fostering a safe, respectful and supportive environment while connecting members to relevant resources and information.

Partnerships and Collaborations

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for community organizations, healthcare partners and allied stakeholders engaging with PCNA's programs and services.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with advocacy groups, community partners, outpatient clinics and allied organizations to expand awareness, accessibility and utilization of PCNA programs and services.
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities for partnerships and collaborations that strengthen program delivery, community reach and organizational impact.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in community programming, outreach, partnership development or volunteer engagement within non-profit or healthcare organization.
  • Demonstrated experience building and sustaining relationships with community partners, healthcare institutions, or allied organizations to increase awareness and program utilization.
  • Strong understanding of community engagement strategies and equitable access to services.
  • Experience working with CRM and/or case management systems to track engagement, referrals and program activity.
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to translate data, community feedback and lived experience into actionable insights that strengthen programs, engagement strategies and organizational impact
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage compassionately with patients and caregivers, build trust with community partners, and effectively communicate program information, insights and impact to a variety of audiences.
  • Organized, proactive and highly collaborative, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while building strong relationships across teams, partners and communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion and person-centred approaches that respect the diverse experiences, needs and perspectives of patients, caregivers and communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage sensitively and professionally with individuals navigating serious illness, caregiving responsibilities, grief or loss.
