Job Summary
CMHA Ontario, is seeking a thoughtful, people-focused Manager of People and Culture to support and manage the day-to-day functions of the People and Culture (P&C) department. Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, the Manager of People and Culture will provide day-to-day people/labour management oversight, advice and ongoing support to leaders and employees in a unionized environment, including key operational areas such as employee and labour relations, talent management and operational people activities.
Principle Responsibilities
Employee and Labour Relations
• Provide employee and labour relations guidance to leaders and staff on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, the collective agreement and employment related matter and legislations.
• Guide, coach and act as a resource for various performance management processes, including performance coaching, performance improvement and support, and progressive discipline.
• Participate and lead as necessary in the resolution of employee and labour relations issues, including grievance management, workplace investigations, resolution management.
• Under the direction of the Director, People and Culture provide labour relations support, including grievance, arbitration and negotiation preparation and research regarding the labour relations issues and trends.
• Engage and consult with key stakeholders, maintaining relationships and standards, including union representatives, stewards, vendors etc.
Talent Management
• Lead the talent management processes including, development, annual reviews, succession, talent mapping, and engagement
• Facilitate the management of the annual talent processes, including performance development reviews, personal development plans, assessments, and career planning etc.
• Manage all job descriptions, evaluations, and related structures.
People Operations
• Provide day-to-day management oversight for the people operations of CMHA Ontario, including payroll, benefits, pension, HRIS, talent related processes and procedures.
• Contribute and manage strategic projects and priorities that enhance organizational culture, the employee experience and quality.
• Provide general HR support to the Director, People and Culture on various reoccurring and ad hoc HR projects/initiatives, as required.
• Function as contact for operational queries from employees, managers and departments, redirecting to the Director, People and Culture, as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
The position requires a college/university degree and/or equivalent work experience (5+ years) in a Human Resources and Organizational Development capacity, effectively managing employee and labour relations. Holds or is pursuing their professional HR designation (CHRP/CHRL), and a workplace investigation certification is considered an asset
• Solid knowledge and experience managing labour and employee relations within a unionized environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build, maintain and manage relationships, partnerships and stakeholders
• Attention to detail, critical thinking and quality decision making
• Organizational/environmental awareness and engagement
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office, SharePoint, HRIS databases (BambooHR), and survey tools preferred
• Working knowledge of Payroll and Benefits
Salary
The hiring range for this position is between $85,000.00 and $90,000.00 per annum, based on a 35-hour work week. Anticipated range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, regular (permanent) position working standard office hours (currently 35 hours/week). This position is based in Toronto, Ontario. We are currently operating within a hybrid model, with colleagues working from the office 3 days/week and from home 2 days/week.
This position is also a desk job with extended periods of sitting, reading, telephone interaction, and working at the computer. This position involves some moderate lifting, shipping, and handling. Attendance at various meetings throughout the workday/workweek will be required; meetings may occur on short notice, depending on the circumstances.
This position is not within the bargaining unit.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
