North Grenville Curling Club – Club Manager Position Profile

Position Summary:

The Club Manager is a key ambassador for the sport of curling. They will advocate, promote, and grow the game within the membership and greater community, while overseeing all aspects of day-to-day club operations including the clubhouse, bar, and pro shop. The Manager will schedule and support all curling activities, ensuring members and guests enjoy a welcoming, organized, and positive experience. Visible, approachable, and community-minded, this role provides vital leadership both within and beyond the ice.

Employment Details:

  • Job Type: Part-time (25 hours/week)
  • Compensation: $25.00/hour
  • Schedule: Primarily daytime hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for evenings and weekends as required

Key Responsibilities
Club Operations & Member Experience

  • Manage curling activity scheduling, registration, and ice rental requests
  • Oversee the ice maintenance contract and ensure facility readiness
  • Supervise the pro shop and bar operations; schedule and manage part-time bar staff
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed
  • Maintain and update the club’s website and calendar of events
  • Ensure excellent guest service and a warm, inclusive atmosphere

Communication & Community Engagement

  • Create communications to members, guests, and suppliers
  • Promote events and club programming using social media and other channels
  • Represent the club at community events and build positive relationships

Administration & Financial Support

  • Work independently while providing advice and reporting to the Board
  • Attend monthly board meetings and contribute strategic insights
  • Collaborate with the Treasurer on budgeting and financial statement analysis
  • Prepare and submit government grant applications in coordination with the board

Compliance & Technical Skills

  • Ensure adherence to relevant federal and provincial legislation including PIPEDA, OHSA, and WSIA
  • Certified in Smart Serve, Standard First Aid, CPR Level C with AED
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with HTML editing is an asset

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a management or leadership position
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Experience marketing events in a small business or community setting
  • Familiarity with curling is an asset
