About NNPBC

The Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of British Columbia (NNPBC) is the professional association representing all four nursing designations in BC: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs). We support nurses across the province by promoting excellence in nursing practice and advancing the role of nursing in health care, policy and system transformation.

NNPBC offers a fully remote work environment and a culture grounded in safety, respect and meaningful contribution. We are committed to cultural safety, cultural humility, anti-racism, equity and reconciliation, guided by Indigenous practice standards and provincial and national commitments. These values inform how we work together and how we engage with members, partners and communities.

Role Summary

NNPBC represents the largest healthcare profession in British Columbia, and membership is a key way the organization supports and advocates for nurses and nurse practitioners. The Manager, Membership & Engagement will lead the work of defining and delivering meaningful member value — from building the membership model and systems, to developing partnerships and sponsorships, to supporting member-focused programs and events. Reporting to the Director, Communications and Engagement, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is passionate about strengthening member experience and stewarding a core organizational function.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Strategy & Value

  • Set and lead NNPBC’s approach to membership growth, retention and engagement, supporting a strong and sustainable member base across BC.
  • Manage member perks and benefits, including building and maintaining partnerships that add clear value for members.
  • Develop and deliver the annual membership renewal campaign, along with targeted member engagement campaigns throughout the year.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for member-focused events, including the Nursing Awards Gala.
  • Use membership data and performance insights to inform planning, priorities and decisionmaking.

Membership Systems & Processes

  • Manage NNPBC’s membership system (being relaunched in spring 2026), database and all related workflows, ensuring it runs effectively day to day.
  • Design and manage how members are onboarded, grouped for communication and services, and engaged throughout their membership.
  • Work closely with IT to troubleshoot and improve membership system functionality.
  • Act as a primary relationship lead for members, supporting a consistent, high-quality member experience and addressing member needs as they arise.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for membership processes and workflows.

Partnerships & Sponsorships

  • Steward strategic relationships with a range of partners, seeking opportunities to act as an NNPBC representative in member-facing settings.
  • Develop and implement a sponsorship strategy for member-related programs and events, building partnerships that align with organizational goals and strengthen member value.
  • Oversee member-facing data collection activities, including surveys, research and initiatives delivered in collaboration with external partners.

Communications & Team Collaboration

  • Design and deliver membership communications in collaboration with the Communications & Engagement team.
  • Champion effective use of project management tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with and/or oversee co-op students, contractors or vendors and provide functional leadership across the portfolio (this role does not currently include management of permanent staff).

Operations & Planning

  • Oversee financial administration for membership and engagement activities including forecasting and budget development.
  • Support the development of NNPBC’s annual operational plan.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering member- or customer-facing programs that support engagement, growth, retention and/or experience.
  • Hands-on experience using a CRM, membership platform, or comparable system, including working with data and supporting workflows.
  • Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data to support planning, evaluation, reporting and decision-making.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with partners, sponsors, or external stakeholders.
  • High level of comfort working with technology and collaborating with technical or digital teams.
  • Experience contributing to clear, effective ways of working (e.g., using project management tools, documentation, shared processes).
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and address issues proactively with professionalism and care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural safety, cultural humility, anti-racism and alignment with NNPBC’s values.

We recognize that experience is gained in many ways. We welcome candidates with equivalent combinations of education, professional experience, volunteer experience, and lived experience.

Desired / Asset Qualifications

  • Progressive experience in related roles (6+ years preferred), showing growth in scope and responsibility.
  • Experience working in a health-related setting, professional association, or nonprofit environment.
  • Experience supporting sponsorships, partnerships, or structured member engagement initiatives.
  • Experience contributing to large-scale engagement programs or events.
