Compensation: $75,000-$80,000/Year
Work Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend work.
Location: Progress Campus (travel between campuses is required). Hybrid work arrangement available (remote and in-person).
Overview
The Manager, Marketing & Communications works with a team of staff that support the student leadership and goals of the organization. The Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating and managing the CCSAI’s internal and external communications and managing the organizational brand. The Manager acts as editor-in-chief for CCSAI publications and prepares press releases and presentations. The Manager proactively searches for strategic partnerships with external stakeholders to further CCSAI’s vision. The Manager is accountable for ensuring that the development and execution of the marketing strategy, annual work plans and budgets are aligned with the goals of the CCSAI. The Manager provides leadership to the Marketing & Communications team for the day-to-day operation of the program
This position requires the incumbent to work effectively and to foster cooperative relationships with Student Leaders as part of a student-focused organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Creative Direction & Brand Management
- Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Maintain and strengthen brand standards across all print, digital, and multimedia channels.
- Oversee major organizational publications and content, including the annual Student Handbook.
- Coordinate marketing and promotional campaigns to support programs, events, and key initiatives.
- Support internal communications through leadership messaging, organizational announcements, and staff engagement content.
- Assist with the procurement and design of all branded material including signage, uniforms, promotional giveaways.
- Collaborate with other managers and senior staff in the operationalization of consistent branding and messaging through all services.
Digital Communications & Content Development
- Lead digital communications across social media, website, email newsletters, and online campaigns, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high engagement.
- Manage website updates, navigation improvements, and user experience enhancements.
- Plan, create, and oversee content development for all channels, including marketing materials, newsletters, web copy, and social content.
- Lead development of multimedia initiatives, including scripting, planning, and coordinating the organization’s podcast, and its promotional strategy.
- Monitor social media and website analytics to guide decision‑making and improve communication effectiveness.
- Support on-campus advertising programs by creating and placing advertisements within CCSAI-operated media.
- Maintain and support staff by regularly updating internal content calendars.
Media Relations & Crisis Communications
- Lead media relations, including developing press releases, media advisories, key messages, and coordinating interviews or spokesperson preparation.
- Supports the Board of Directors, President Executive Team and the Board Communications Officer in managing their media relations needs.
- Cultivate strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and external partners to enhance visibility and storytelling.
- Manage crisis communications, drafting timely statements, coordinating approvals, and ensuring consistent, accurate messaging across all channels during urgent or sensitive situations.
- Work with the Board of Directors and CCSAI leadership as well as key stakeholders to maintain readiness through up‑to‑date crisis communication protocols and materials.
Human Resources & Financial Management
- Delegates assignments to staff prioritizing projects
- In consultation with the Director, Student Engagement & Supports, determines staffing requirements and contributes to the development of job descriptions
- Works with designated recruitment team to recruit, interview and select appropriate staff for vacancies
- Participates in the performance management process for staff which includes monitoring performance, providing training opportunities and conducting an annual performance review
- Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to staff within the unit
- With the Director, Student Engagement & Supports, develop a proposed budget for the ensuing fiscal year assuring adherence and financial stability
- Authorizes and monitors spending throughout the year
- Advises the Director, Student Engagement & Supports on a continuous basis on all matters related to the Communications & Events unit
- Fully conversant with, and fully adheres to, the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the CCSAI
- Attends staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Student Engagement & Supports & Executive Director

Key Knowledge and Qualifications
- Post Secondary education, preferably in Marketing, Communications or Journalism or equivalent combination of experience
- 5+ years’ progressive and relevant experience in marketing, promotions, advertising, writing, editing and strategic communication
- Experience with website design and maintenance
- Demonstrated experience in events management, promotion and program development
- Extensive experience working with students and volunteers and managing, supervising and orientating people for events
