About us:

Rural Family Connections is non-profit multi service childcare agency providing licensed home childcare for children from 0 to 12 years of age. Licensed under the Ministry of Education, we proudly serve an expanding South Ottawa community. We work alongside our home care providers to provide inclusive, play-based programming in their homes to ensure the best learning and growing environment for the children and families we serve.

Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for leading our organization to continue our successful licensed home childcare, including the management of home childcare providers, clients and staff. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring licensed home childcare providers and consultants, providing opportunities for professional networking, resourcing and pedagogical support. This individual will follow requirements of all municipal, provincial and federal regulations; follow policies and procedures identified in the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and of Rural Family Connections Inc. This individual will uphold management practices aligned with the organization’s philosophy, support high-quality early childhood education and care, and foster positive relationships with staff, providers, clients, and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with the ​Executive Director, support staff and consultants to ensure the implementation of a philosophy of early learning and care within our licensed homes are aligned with ​Rural Family Connections​ philosophy, mandate and vision, current pedagogical approaches, policies and the strategic priorities of the organization
  • To assume a leadership and supervisory role to our licensed home childcare providers and home childcare consultants
  • To schedule work and assign responsibilities; participate in staff and provider hiring and dismissal; provide orientation and ongoing training opportunities among providers and consultants
  • To support employee performance development, and document performance reviews in compliance with CCEYA Legislation and Rural Family Connections policies.
  • To manage and establish professional relations and partnerships in the community to strengthen and foster resources and opportunities for providers, children and families.
  • To participate in meetings within the agency and the network
  • To prepare and ensure all documentation, policies, and procedures are current and up to date
  • To process monthly invoicing, including attendance reports; to create monthly newsletters and monthly handouts for providers
  • To ensure all provider documentation adheres to all regulations, including but not limited to Police Vulnerable Sector checks, Standard First Aid certification and immunization records
  • To ensure all client documentation adheres to all regulations including but not limited to online portal registrations, immunization record, emergency contacts, dietary restrictions and medical/individualized plans
  • To review and coordinate signing of all applicable agreements and paperwork between the home childcare provider and Rural Family Connections.
  • To respect confidentiality as it relates to families, children and other staff members in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with the mandate and vision of the organization.
  • To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by ​the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education Degree or Diploma and Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators is mandatory
  • University degree in relevant area; childcare, social services, business an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory/designate experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in licensed childcare
  • Experience in Home Childcare is an asset
  • Experience with licensing under the Ministry of Education
  • Sound knowledge of Childcare and Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen? And the Canada Wide Early Learning and Childcare Program
  • Knowledge of best practices in the Early Learning development field
  • Well-developed skills in areas such as leadership, communication, organization, assessment, confidentiality, commitment and accountability, initiative and resourceful
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills in English; other languages an asset
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to network with community agencies and partners
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C qualification
  • Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 6 months
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle
