CARE Canada is looking for a Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance!

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance, the responsibilities of the Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance include performing several functions to meet operational and contractual requirements that support the effective management of various humanitarian emergencies and development projects. This position is specifically accountable for development of systems for effective project financial management, ensuring the funds are used for the intended purpose, donor compliance requirements, support the development of project proposal budgets, provide analysis on project expenditure against budgets, investigating variances and provide risk mitigation.  

This involves project accounting cycle, continuous review, update, and analysis of the portfolio performance of Global Programs to ensure adequate planning, forecasting and measurement of the Global Programs team budget targets. The incumbent is expected to provide support, technical advice, and capacity building to COs staff. 

WHAT YOU BRING

A minimum of three years’ experience as a Finance Officer or Financial Analyst.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.

University degree in Accounting.

Comprehensive knowledge of contract negotiation with government agencies, United Nations agencies, and private donors, particularly for humanitarian emergency response funding.

Ability to assess the financial and reporting implications of donor contract terms and conditions.

Thorough understanding of budgeting processes, financial management, and variance analysis.

Thorough understanding of accounting processes and their impact on the broader financial system.

Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to interpret financial information and identify, assess, and mitigate risks.

Ability to provide timely, accurate, and reliable financial information to senior management and donors.

Ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance personnel without using technical or accounting jargon.

Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple tasks, provide timely feedback, and meet deadlines.

Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and the Windows operating environment.

Superior interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and stakeholders who may have competing priorities.

Cultural sensitivity, empathy, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Strong leadership skills, autonomy, and integrity.

Experience working for an International non-government organisation (INGO)

Professional accounting designation

REQUIREMENTS
