We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and comprehensive financial management activities for our esteemed organization. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting, contributing to the overall success of our mission.

As a mature and hands-on finance professional, you will bring a proven track record in not-for-profit or small-team environments, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple priorities with finesse and precision. This role presents a remarkable opportunity for a finance expert to enhance and fortify the internal capabilities of a respected organization dedicated to its community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting processes with a commitment to excellence.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for financial components within Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, Business Central, Dynamics NAV and Power BI.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reporting materials for the Board, Finance & Audit Committee and management team, ensuring clarity and insight.
  • Collaborate on the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections, driving strategic financial planning.
  • Monitor and analyze budget performance and operational results, providing insightful recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain financial record systems in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), ensuring rigorous internal control procedures.
  • Lead and mentor the Accounting Team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
  • Oversee membership renewal billings
  • Direct the annual external audit process, preparing thorough audit working paper schedules and ensuring compliance.
  • Facilitate the preparation of statutory compliance filings (HST, EHT, etc.) with attention to detail.
  • Manage contribution remittances for pension plans and related filings, liaising effectively with external stakeholders.
  • Maintain, update, and implement internal financial and accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Provide strategic support to the Director of Finance on various projects and initiatives.
  • Supervise two direct reports, focusing on continuous team development, mentorship, and training.
  • Collaborate closely and effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely distribution of departmental reports.
  • Assist in the development and management of Power BI dashboards to enhance data visualization and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Proficiency in customer relationship management and accounting/reporting software, with mandatory experience in Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, and Dynamics NAV 2018.
  • Familiarity with Power BI is a distinct advantage.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and full proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, data extraction, and dashboard creation.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, fostering effective working relationships across the organization.
  • A systematic thinker and resourceful problem-solver with outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized, demonstrating sound judgment and the capacity to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector, particularly within associations or membership-based organizations, is a valued asset.
