Location: Hybrid - RHF Office in Richmond, BC 2x/week, remote 3x/week

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Community Giving leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy and plan for the Community Giving program by supporting the execution of strategies across various fundraising channels to provide key income generation and long-term sustainable funding through direct mail, monthly and mid-level giving, legacy giving, third-party, and tribute/memorial giving. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Community Giving program, as well as responsibility for a high level of donor care and stewardship, and for maintaining the data quality and integrity of the Salesforce CRM database.

The Manager, Community Giving is also responsible for leadership donor management and works closely with the Director, Resource Development to develop a strong pipeline for the planned giving, mid-level and major gift portfolios. This role offers the opportunity to drive innovative and strategic outcomes, develop effective donor strategies, and enhance community support.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting to the Director, Resource Development, the Manager, Community Giving manages the Specialist; Outreach Coordinator; and Donor Services Coordinator.

The Manager works closely with the Resource Development, Marketing and Communications, IT and Finance teams, and across all business units on initiatives that support the acquisition, cultivation and retention of RHF donors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategy & Planning

  • Work with the Director, Resource Development to determine the overall strategy and approach for the Community Giving portfolio to ensure it aligns with RHF goals and priorities and delivers long-term success.
  • Develop and implement the annual plan for the CG program that includes a range of best-practice, data-driven strategies and tactics for growth with donor engagement and stewardship, e‐mail and social media, direct mail, telephone and in‐house solicitations for all revenue streams to create a growing and sustainable foundation of annual support.
  • Develop and implement a separate strategy, budget and plan to significantly grow the Planned Giving program, including PG marketing initiatives, best-practice stewardship, engagement and acquisition strategies to engage new and existing bequests.
  • Monitor and research the giving landscape for new fundraising or engagement opportunities and fundraising best practices to increase revenue generation, donor acquisition and retention.
  • Overall monitoring and in-depth analysis of the performance of all Community Giving activities and programs and provide refinements and recommendations to fundraising strategies to improve overall performance.

Direct Mail Program

Work with the Specialist, Community Giving to:

  • Provide strategic oversight in the growth of the direct mail program throughout the year, including monthly and mid-level programs, tribute and third-party programs, and digital donor strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team on Community Giving efforts specific to increasing donor engagement and revenue through digital strategies, such as Giving Tuesday and Direct Mail campaigns.
  • Develop and execute a robust third-party revenue stream that includes research to ensure an ongoing viable prospect list.
  • Implement an annual Thank-a-Thon campaign to support stewardship, and donor engagement and retention during the Holiday Campaign.
  • Support the sourcing of matching gift opportunities for the Direct Mail program.
  • Support regular audit and improvement of Salesforce data quality, accuracy and integrity in accordance with the Foundation’s policies and procedures.
  • Maximize digital strategies and campaigns to bring in more revenue through online, QR codes, improved payment options, etc.
  • Develop and share monthly, quarterly and annual reports with Director, Resource Development, and Executive Team, specific to Community Giving performance, including Direct Mail and Stewardship activities.

Planned Giving Program

  • Work with the Coordinator, Outreach to develop and execute a comprehensive action plan to cultivate and solicit Planned Giving prospects, Intenders and Expectancies.
  • Identify Planned Giving prospects from the Resource Development pool of donors.
  • Manage the Planned Giving program, including regularly communicating with donors, financial advisors and lawyers across Canada to increase interest and prospect engagement.
  • Manage estate gifts to mitigate delays and ensure accurate tracking and reporting of all Planned Giving prospects, expectancies, and estate gift realizations.
  • Manage Willfora relationship (our third-party online Will partner) to maximize response and engagement rates.
  • Monitor the legacy landscape, and research and identify opportunities to grow this program.

Stewardship & Recognition Program

  • Lead the development and implementation of a Community Giving stewardship strategy and matrix for all donor segments, in collaboration with the Major Gifts/Corporate team. Ensure partners and donors receive accurate and appropriate acknowledgement, stewardship reporting through 1:1, email or phone, renewal letters and thank you calls.
  • Develop tangible recognition benefits, including clubs/circles, for monthly, mid-level and planned giving donors.
  • Lead the mid-level donor program, and work with the Director, Resource Development to advance the top prospects toward major gift readiness.
  • Work with Coordinator, Outreach to steward current and potential Planned Giving donors, Intenders and Expectancies through regular 1:1 updates to maintain interest and engagement.
  • Primary lead in stewarding top-tier Community Giving supporters and managing a robust pipeline, including developing tailored materials, conducting regular solicitation and stewardship calls, and maintaining ongoing engagement to deepen relationships and drive revenue growth.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Community Giving budgets, deadlines, goals and objectives related to the overall program. Includes revenue targets, expenses, projections and statistical reporting, monthly reconciliations, and analysis of annual giving campaigns and programs.
  • Serve as the Resource Development in-house expert on Privacy and CRA compliance, including complex tax receipting and regulations, and third-party management.
  • Proactively review all Community Giving policy, processes, procedures and operations to look for efficiencies and ensure documentation and implementation of best practices.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures(SOP’s) for current gaps in Salesforce coding to maximize data integrity and reporting.
  • Lead, mentor and coach Community Giving staff to ensure excellent service and support for donors, and strengthen the team’s fundraising skills and expertise to best-practice standards.
  • Represent RHF at community events, donor meetings, and outreach opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

An equivalent combination of education, experience and skills/behaviours will be considered.

Education: Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant discipline, including courses in Fundraising Management, Public Administration, Business Administration/Commerce, Marketing and/or Communications.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience managing annual programs;
  • Experience developing content for various donor engagement communications;
  • Experience with email marketing strategy and execution is an asset;
  • Experience of 2 years or more with Salesforce or comparable CRM system required;
  • Experience with CRM data management and analysis to maximize revenue results;
  • Thorough understanding of donor and market segmentation and its applications;
  • Computer experience working with MS Office;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies;
  • Knowledge of CRA guidelines;
  • Knowledge of CASL and other regulations; and
  • Knowledge of issues related to people with disabilities is an asset.
