The Raging Spoon - Line Cook Job Description
As a Line Cook at the Raging Spoon you will assist the kitchen crew of a food social enterprise which employs people with lived experience of mental health challenges, addiction, homelessness, gendered violence and / or refugee challenges. With multiple locations in downtown Toronto, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

- Location-based reporting to Business Manager and / or Kitchen Manager
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the preparation and cooking of high quality hot and cold foods;
- Cook and build customer and catering orders in a timely and presentable fashion;
- Coordinate with team members on required food preparation;
- Meal preparation and food service at various site and catering locations;
- Assist in training new staff on kitchen operations;
- Participate in cleaning duties throughout the day;
- Maintain team-oriented, positive and professional relationships with staff;
- Report to the Business Manager as your supervisor, taking direction when provided;
- Interact with customers and guests when needed in a positive and professional manner;
- Adhere to organizational and municipal regulations for Food Safety and Workplace Health and Safety;
- Adhere to Working for Change policies and procedures;
- Willingness to move to other sites when needed;
- Arrive at work on time, dressed in uniform and ready to work;
- Inform your manager of any required time off as far in advance as possible;
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in the food / restaurant industry;
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification is preferred but can support to obtain;
- Formal culinary training is an asset;
- Basic computer skills are an asset;
- Canadian Driver’s License is an asset.
Hours of work: Shifts vary between Monday to Sunday, between 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, with a minimum of 15 hours per week, up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week, and can be determined between you and your supervisor. Rate: $19.13 per hour, plus 2% increase each year.
Work Location: Raging Spoon Catering Company sites are located at 629 Adelaide Street West, Respite Centre at 69 Fraser Avenue and 1658 Queen Street West, Toronto.
The sites will be operational 365 days of the year, serving 3 meals a day and snacks. You must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays. There is a 30-minute lunch break depending on the lengthof your shift. There may be some variation with hours and locations due to business requirements.
