This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to utilize your skills and contribute to making a significant impact on individuals' lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage volunteers and assigned tasks on the Legal Team and provide guidance and oversight.
  • Provide assistance to the Legal Team volunteers on legal research, writing and reviewing of legal documents
  • Work cross-functionally with the finance team to support funding initiatives for Empowered Futures' mentorship program
  • Collaborate with other members of the legal team to develop effective legal strategies and solutions
  • Provide support on various legal matters
  • Attend weekly or biweekly team meetings

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor in Law and the ability to practice law in Canada
  • Experience with conducting legal research and excellent writing skills
  • Experience drafting commercial contracts, IP (Intellectual Property) agreements, SaaS Agreements, and documents related to privacy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong commitment to social justice and helping underserved communities

This is a part-time and unpaid volunteer position (5-8 hours a week)
