LAW CLERK / HUMAN RIGHTS REPRESENTATIVE (HRR)

The Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC) provides a broad range of free legal assistance to individuals throughout Ontario who have experienced discrimination contrary to Ontario’s Human Rights Code. The HRLSC is seeking applications for a Law Clerk / Human Rights Representative (HRR) to carry out and conduct the enforcement of Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) orders and as a member of a Legal Team to provide in depth legal services to individuals who have experienced discrimination, in respect of applications and potential applications to the HRTO.

Qualifications include the ability to interpret and communicate Ontario human rights legislation (Human Rights Code), enforcement of orders legislation and rules in Ontario, including the Rules of Civil Procedure, the Rules of the Small Claims Court, and/or other social justice legislation such as employment standards, landlord/tenant and workers’ compensation. The successful applicant will have experience working with individual and systemic principles and issues relating to human rights, excellent knowledge of community resources, the effective ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with diverse communities and will have sound interviewing, listening, explaining and counseling / representation skills. Computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and experience using a case management or data base system are required.

Full Job Description

This is a full-time, contract position until August 2026, and is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring two (2) days in the Toronto office and three (3) days of remote work from home each week. This arrangement may be subject to change as part of the HRLSC’s Recovery Plan process. The HRLSC provides a competitive total compensation package. The salary range for this position is $65,586 - $96,037. The usual hours of work are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
