
Lakehead University Board of Governors
Lakehead University is seeking a dedicated individual with financial operations experience. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading change, and a good understanding of Board governance. A candidate with a CPA designation is preferred.
The Board of Governors is responsible for the government, conduct, management and control of the University, except for matters specifically mandated to the Senate. The Board deliberates decisions related to property, finances, strategic planning, oversight and the hiring and reappointment of the President. Currently the Board is composed of 20 members, the majority are external members.
Following a typical Board structure, the Board delegates some of its deliberations to six standing committees. Some of the areas the Board committees are currently working on include monitoring the development of the upcoming budget, investment portfolios, fund-raising initiatives, and risk assessment.
