The CLC has a vacancy for a temporary position of IT Administrator, within the Information Technology Department, covering a broad range of administrative and technology tasks. This position is based at the CLC Headquarters office in Ottawa, Ontario.

This position reports to the Executive Director overseeing the Information Technology Department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for iMIS main database management including updating, coordinating, designing and implementing solutions for CLC events (Convention Registrations, Schools Registrations, Lobby Day System, Resolutions System, Labour Councils Financial System), producing reports (Crystal and Microsoft SSRS) as well as managing other systems based on the CLC iMIS main database.
  • Manage user accounts and rights with the Microsoft 365 management tools such as the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, the Microsoft Entra Admin Center (Azure Active Directory), the Exchange Admin Center, the Microsoft Teams Admin Center as well as other Microsoft cloud services management tools.
  • Responsible for updating and providing troubleshooting support for the CLC boardrooms’ audio-visual meetings systems, providing day-to-day IT support requests for software and hardware, and deploy software and hardware as required.
  • Manage, update, and implement solutions for the building access system (fobs), the reception emergency alert system, the telephone systems and the building security surveillance cameras system.
  • Reviewing various contracts for the telephone land lines, cell phones, floor printers, internet access, as well as other information technology-related systems.
  • Assess existing systems and technologies and manage projects to improve or identify alternative solutions.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance the organization’s digital infrastructure capabilities.
  • Oversee and support the development of training programs for tools and technologies (e.g., Action Network, WordPress, iMIS, OneDrive) in collaboration with internal/external stakeholders and the Education department.
  • Promote the adoption and effective use of digital tools through presentations, facilitated discussions, one-on-one meetings, and community-building initiatives.
  • Oversee organization’s role on the product development committee for Action Network.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage the Action Network project to ensure successful execution and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic direction for digital support and services offered to affiliates and labour bodies.
  • Offer strategic guidance on technology and digital tools to executives, department directors, and staff, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for third-party vendors, evaluating and managing relationships to ensure effective delivery of digital services, technology, and tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, the PAC Department, and CLC regions to support projects involving web development, digital tools, data, analytics, reporting, and campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Post-secondary education is required, preferably in the information technology field.
  • Equivalent IT certifications and IT experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 or more years work experience in information technology.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and project-management skills.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft SQL, Microsoft OneDrive, Zoom and Teams Meetings, and Microsoft Active Directory, namely user accounts and rights management.
  • Demonstrated understanding and practical use of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting skills for both software and hardware systems.
  • Previous experience with Crystal Reports and Microsoft SSRS is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with the use and administration of Microsoft Teams is an asset.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles is an asset.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required, with French considered an asset.

The annual starting salary for this position is $124,097.61 along with comprehensive benefits under the IAMAW, Local Lodge 3111 CULR collective agreement. Benefits include health, vision, and dental coverage, group life insurance, LTD coverage, pension contributions, as well as a monthly vehicle allowance and coverage for fuel, internet, and cell phone expenses.
