You are a motivated and passionate student eager to gain hands-on experience supporting our Engagement Strategy, Group Strategy and assist with our summer camp programming. You have a strong interest in children’s mental health and thrive in collaborative, team-based environments.

You bring a positive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, along with the ability to contribute thoughtful insights from a student perspective. You are excited to develop your skills, gain meaningful experience, and make a positive impact in the Halton community.

We are looking at 2 interns on a Full-Time basis. This is a Short Term Contract till the end of August 2026.

The ROLE

  • Work in a team environment under the supervision of professional full-time staff.
  • Develop and practice skills in primarily in youth and family engagement but not limited to support communication, meeting management, event planning, outreach and marketing, and others.
  • Learn about the fields of mental health and community health through active involvement in program/service engagement and supports project management initiatives.
  • The interns will also support Camp Unity – support individuals with FASD
  • Other duties as may reasonably be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a university program in psychology, social work, or a related health discipline (other relevant fields will be considered)
  • Demonstrated interest in mental health and/or community-based care
  • Exposure to or interest in facilitating workshops, group activities, or community engagement initiatives (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of project coordination or quality improvement practices (preferred)
  • Foundational knowledge of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles, with an interest in working with diverse populations
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and administrative skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable speaking in group settings and supporting meeting coordination or facilitation
  • Familiarity with community services in the Halton Region is an asset
  • Reliable, proactive, and demonstrates initiative
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate challenges with support
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Requirements:

  • For all employees/agents of ROCK, a current (within 3 months) Criminal Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector Check, where working with the vulnerable population).
  • Proficient in the use of technology as required of the position, including working in a virtual environment with MAC OS operating systems experiences preferred.

Please note that ROCK positions are currently working in an on-site and virtual hybrid model. Positions are located in the Halton Region and travel between sites may be required
