About the Opportunity

Do you believe in the transformative power of the camp experience? The Canadian Camping Association (CCA) is seeking visionary leaders to join our Board of Directors as Independent Members.

As the national voice for the Canadian camp sector, the CCA represents over 2,000 camps across the country. We are a community of dedicated volunteers working to ensure that every child in Canada has access to safe, high-quality, and life-changing camp experiences. This is an opportunity to use your professional expertise to shape a national cause and advocate for youth development from coast to coast.

The Skillsets We Need

We are currently looking for professionals with experience in one or more of the following areas to help lead our association into its next chapter:

Legal: Guidance on governance, regulatory advocacy, and national policy.

Fundraising/Philanthropy: Strategy development for sustainable, long-term funding models.

Human Resources: Supporting our transition to a staffed national model and volunteer management.

Marketing & Communications: Crafting the national narrative for the value of Canadian camping.

Accounting (CPA): Providing financial oversight and ensuring the integrity of our national mission.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Approve and oversee the CCA’s strategic direction and monitor progress against key performance indicators.

Governance: Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards while maintaining effective governance structures.

Financial Oversight: Approve the annual budget, review financial performance, and oversee risk management.

Committee Participation: Serve on at least one CCA committee aligned with your professional skills.

What You Bring

Independence: You are not currently serving on a Provincial Camping Association (PCA) board/staff, and are not a manager or executive of a PCA member camp.

Commitment: Ability to dedicate 5–10 hours per month, including attendance at 8 virtual board meetings per year (Jan–May, Sept–Nov).

Passion: A deep belief in the value of youth development and the camping industry.

What You Will Gain

National Impact: Directly influence the growth and sustainability of the Canadian camp sector.

Professional Growth: Gain high-level experience in national strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.

A Dedicated Community: Join a network of passionate professionals and industry leaders from across Canada who share your values.

Commitment to Equity & Inclusion

The CCA is committed to building a board that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, people of colour, individuals with disabilities, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
