Impact & Stewardship Officer

Location: Hybrid – Toronto
Reports to: Director, Giving & Impact
Hours: Full-time

Summary

IDRF is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Impact & Stewardship Officer to join our Giving & Impact team. You will play a vital role in showcasing program outcomes to our diverse funding network—spanning financial foundations, corporate funders, institutional backers, and individual benefactors. You’ll craft compelling impact reports, refine stewardship strategies, and optimize data systems to connect insights with meaningful engagement.

This opportunity is ideal for a strong communicator who’s comfortable with data, passionate about equity-driven development, and eager to grow in international philanthropy. The role may occasionally require evening or weekend work to support time-sensitive campaigns, public engagement efforts, or emergency response activities.

The Opportunity

As Impact & Stewardship Officer, this role will be central to demonstrating the value of IDRF’s work to a diverse network of institutional funders, corporate partners, philanthropic foundations, and individual benefactors. The successful candidate will help ensure this community sees the tangible outcomes of their support through thoughtful reporting, compelling narratives, and consistent engagement. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Giving & Impact, the position bridges programmatic insights with strategic communications. Ideal for someone who moves fluidly between data analysis, storytelling, and audience segmentation, this role contributes directly to sustaining long-term partnerships and strengthening IDRF’s reach across Canada and beyond. Expect a fast-paced, collaborative environment grounded in transparency, equity, and trust.

Key Responsibilities

Impact Communications & Partner Engagement

  • Develop tailored communications for institutional and corporate funders, foundations, and key benefactors—including updates, briefs, newsletters, and reports.
  • Co-create engagement strategies across the Giving & Impact portfolio.
  • Track relationship milestones, feedback, and engagement activity using Raiser’s Edge (CRM).
  • Support the planning and delivery of events, briefings, and campaigns that deepen partner relationships.
  • Participate in meetings and calls with partners, capturing key insights and coordinating follow-up actions.

Impact Reporting & Insights

  • Produce high-quality, on-time impact reports that align with partner priorities and demonstrate program effectiveness.
  • Analyze program data, evaluations, and field updates to generate clear and persuasive narratives.
  • Co-develop internal templates for reporting that reflect IDRF’s values and funder expectations.
  • Partner with the Programs team to collect meaningful quantitative indicators and qualitative stories.

Storytelling & Content Development

  • Translate complex data and field experiences into accessible, engaging content across formats.
  • Draft narrative-driven materials for appeals, campaigns, newsletters, and stewardship packages.
  • Ensure messaging reflects IDRF’s voice and commitment to community-centered storytelling.

Data & Systems Support

  • Maintain accurate and structured records of contributions and engagement in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Generate basic data reports and segmentation queries to support strategy and outreach.
  • Use data insights to help optimize engagement strategies and partner experiences.

Collaboration & Learning

  • Prepare briefing notes and strategy documents to support senior leadership in engagement efforts.
  • Assist in the execution of annual campaigns and events in partnership with the Fund Development team.
  • Stay current on trends in philanthropy, stewardship, and impact reporting to inform team learning.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in international development, communications, social sciences, data analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in philanthropy, stewardship, communications, or program reporting.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to craft clear and engaging materials.
  • Comfort working with data—both quantitative and qualitative—to inform storytelling and strategy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with international development or humanitarian programming is preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of IDRF.
