Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager manages the recruitment of volunteers for Twice Upon a Time, provides general Twice onboarding, and maintains the list of volunteers. They provide strategic HR advice and guidance to the Board members related to workforce planning, volunteer experience, policy development and oversight, governance and reporting. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and provide creative solutions to volunteer planning.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruit new volunteers by creating postings to Volunteer Ottawa, universities, LinkedIn and/or other;
  • Promote volunteer opportunities as needed, including volunteers for pop-up locations, acquisitions, communications, fundraising, Board, leadership or other members;
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective volunteers in a timely manner;
  • Screen volunteers and match with site leads and/or committee leads;
  • Provide general onboarding of Twice Upon a Time operations; and
  • Maintain the list of volunteers, keep track and arrange for renewal of vulnerable sector checks, and maintain current HR files on all volunteers in the organization’s repository; and
  • Recommend best practice HR strategies, techniques and processes to the board

Requirements:

  • Previous experience using Google Drive.

Estimated time commitment: 10-12 hours per month

  • Daily – monitor email box, respond to inquiries from prospective volunteers, screen volunteers as required, match with site leads and/or committee leads
  • Monthly – review status of vulnerable sector checks and request volunteers update their record checks
  • Quarterly (prior to the Board report) – discuss with site/committee leads about how volunteers are doing, recruitment needs, etc.
  • Quarterly (Jan, Apr, July, Oct) - provide a summary report on all HR changes for the previous quarter, for presentation to the Board
  • As required – update volunteer list
