Job Description: Human Resources Lead

The Human Resources Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all human resources functions for Empowered Futures. This role ensures that the organization attracts, develops, and retains a high-performing workforce while fostering an inclusive, compliant, and mission-driven culture. The Human Resources Lead serves as a strategic partner to leadership, providing guidance on talent management, employee relations, organizational development, and compliance with employment laws and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

• Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.

• Coordinate the full hiring process, including job postings, interviews, background checks, and offer letters.

• Design and facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation programs.

• Maintain accurate personnel records and employment documentation.

Employee Relations

• Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
• Address employee concerns, conflicts, and workplace issues in a timely and confidential manner.
• Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee performance and workplace policies.
• Promote employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.

Human Resources Operations

• Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

• Manage employee benefits administration, leave programs, and payroll coordination.

• Maintain HR information systems and confidential employee records.

Performance Management

• Lead the organization's performance evaluation process.
• Assist supervisors in setting performance goals and development plans.
• Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities.
• Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with employment laws, workplace safety standards, and organizational policies.

• Maintain required HR documentation and reporting.
• Coordinate investigations related to workplace concerns when necessary.
• Recommend improvements to reduce organizational risk.

Strategic Leadership

• Collaborate with executive leadership on workforce planning and organizational growth.

• Analyze workforce metrics and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

• Support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
• Lead HR projects that align with the mission and strategic goals of Empowered Futures.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.

• Master's degree preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources experience.
• At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit organizations is preferred.

Certifications (Preferred)

• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)

• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience with HR information systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
