Interval House of Hamilton is seeking an experienced and highly organized Human Resources Administrator to join our team.
For 40 years, Interval House of Hamilton has provided services and supports to women, children and communities experiencing gender-based violence. Today, we are a dynamic nonprofit organization employing 50+ staff across residential, community and prevention programs.
We are looking for a Human Resources professional who brings strong administrative skills, sound judgment, exceptional attention to detail and a solid understanding of Ontario employment requirements.
This is an in-office and hands-on role supporting the day-to-day human resources needs of a busy, unionized nonprofit workplace. Working collaboratively with leadership, managers and payroll, the Human Resources Administrator will help ensure our Human Resource systems, employee records and processes are accurate, timely, consistent and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruitment, offers of employment, onboarding and offboarding
- Maintain accurate and complete personnel files and employee records
- Administer employee documentation, leaves, attendance and HR tracking systems
- Support benefits administration and other employee lifecycle processes
- Provide payroll with accurate and timely information related to new hires, wage changes, leaves and other employee changes
- Review payroll information as a second level of verification prior to processing and provide backup payroll support when required
- Support the administration of collective agreement requirements and labour relations processes
- Maintain Human Resources policies, procedures, templates and compliance documentation
- Track required employee training, credentials, certifications and documentation
- Provide administrative and documentation support for workplace investigations, accommodations, performance management and progressive discipline processes
- Assist with wage administration and organizational reviews to support compliance with Ontario's Pay Equity Act
- Monitor changes to applicable Ontario employment legislation and support required policy, documentation and administrative updates
What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
- CHRP designation is considered an asset
- Practical Human Resource administration experience, ideally within an organization of 50 or more employees
- Experience within a nonprofit, unionized, social-service or similarly complex environment is considered an asset
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Pay Equity Act
- Experience with HRIS and/or payroll systems
- Strong administrative, organizational and records-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- A collaborative and service-oriented approach to working with employees, managers, leadership and payroll
This position is particularly well suited to a Human Resource professional who enjoys the operational and administrative side of human resources; keeping systems organized, ensuring processes are followed, catching details before they become problems and helping an organization maintain strong and consistent Human Resource practices.
Compensation
Starting wage: $30.42 per hour, plus applicable extended health and dental benefits, paid vacation, personal days and sick time, in accordance with organizational policy.
