Position Summary
The Generalist, Human Resources supports the development and execution of human resources strategy that advances the MNjcc’s strategic plan. In partnership with the Senior Director, Human Resources, this role provides leadership across core HR functions and is directly involved in day-to-day delivery, ensuring consistent, compliant, and values-aligned practices that strengthen organizational effectiveness. The Generalist, Human Resources partners with leaders across departments to support talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and total rewards, while fostering a workplace environment grounded in belonging and accountability. This position plays a key role in strengthening organizational systems, enhancing the employee experience, and supporting a high-performing workplace community.
Schedule Information
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week/regular schedule.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- This position is an in-person role and required to work on site.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle & Talent Management
Lead and continuously strengthen recruitment workforce planning, onboarding, and offboarding processes, ensuring transparency, consistency, & the integration of equity principles at every stage.
- Oversee performance management systems, including bi-annual reviews and goal alignment.
- Support professional development initiatives.
- Provide leadership on employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace conduct matters.
- Ensure HR practices align with organizational values, accessibility standards, and strategic priorities.
HR Operations, Systems & Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, including new hires, terminations, and status changes.
- Draft and standardize employee documentation (e.g., employment agreements, promotion letters, performance materials, policy updates) in accordance with ESA and privacy legislation.
- Oversee HRIS data integrity and reporting; experience with ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
- Strengthen HR systems and documentation processes to improve clarity, consistency, and efficiency.
Compensation, Compliance & Finance Collaboration
- Support total rewards processes, including compensation reviews.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Collaborate with the Finance team as needed on payroll coordination, reconciliations, and budget-related HR data.
- Liaise with third-party professionals on sensitive employment or compliance matters.
Training, Development & Organizational Effectiveness
- Develop, maintain and deliver onboarding and training resources to ensure a consistent employee experience.
- Provide responsive interpersonal support to employees and managers on day-to-day workplace matters.
- Support organizational planning, workforce analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to policy development, process enhancements, and HR-related change management.
- Track annual policy compliance requirements and coordinate timely, inclusive policy review processes with diverse input.
- Identify emerging issues and trends that may affect HR policies, compliance, or organizational commitments.
- Provide general HR administrative leadership as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3–6 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or community-based environment
- Working knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Experience with HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
- CHRP designation is an asset.
- Must be able to legally work in Canada

Salary and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $55,000 - $63,000 commensurate with experience.
