Planned Parenthood Toronto (PPT) invites you to bring your passion and expertise to Toronto’s only youth community health centre as PPT’s Health Services Manager.

The Health Services Manager oversees the work of allied health providers (Therapists, Case Coordinators, Case Managers, Registered Dietitians, Physiotherapists) and is the Management lead supporting PPT’s Black Health Team.

PPT’s Black Health Team is an emerging, permanent initiative that includes mental health, clinical, health promotion and programming. The staff team includes 2 Therapists, 1 Case Coordinator, 1 RN, 1 NP, and 1 Health Promoter.

Planned Parenthood Toronto (PPT) is a fully accredited community health centre that provides primary health care services to youth aged 13 to 29 years as well as health promotion programming, education, training and research to improve the health and well-being of Toronto’s diverse communities. Overview of Responsibilities: The Health Services Manager oversees the work of allied health providers (Therapists, Case Coordinators, Case Managers, Registered Dietitians, Physiotherapists). As the Management lead supporting PPT’s Black Health Team, the Health Services Manager will lead the Black Health Team in developing a team workplan and practice framework, as well as supporting program development and partnership-building activities.

This role supports the integration of allied health services across PPT’s clinics (main site, satellite site, mobile clinics, and Black reproductive health clinics). The Health Services Manager works to ensure the quality of care provided through PPT’s allied health services meets a high standard consistent with PPT’s philosophy of client-centred, anti-racist, client-empowering support. Working closely with the Director of Community of Health Services, the Health Services Manager supports PPT’s strategic priorities, mission and vision in accordance with PPT’s values.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Management Lead for PPT’s Black Health Team by chairing team meetings, leading the development of a team workplan, and supporting the development of a team vision and practice framework.
  • Oversee and manage processes and procedures associated with PPT’s allied health services.
  • Oversee staff scheduling using our electronic medical record system, ensuring appropriate coverage, streamlined and clear workflows, including communication with the clinical and admin teams, PPT clients and community stakeholders.
  • Create and update protocols to guide staff as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality standards and service delivery, and to address barriers to care.
  • Support the development and analysis of program evaluation activities and organizational client feedback processes.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise allied health staff.
  • Monitor and manage specific budget expenditures.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure clear workflows and communication between the various roles and programs of the Health Services team.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure the implementation of a Chart Audit process twice annually, including debriefing opportunities and implementation of recommendations.
  • Coordinate and prepare reports to manage program-specific and agency-wide data collection and tracking systems.
  • Identify opportunities to advance health equity by supporting PPT to identify areas of priority and inequity for access to health care.
  • Provide leadership, facilitation, and support for program teams, committees and work groups.
  • Participate in Management Team and staff meetings, committees, and external meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and/or training in a related field, or equivalent direct work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience supervising staff delivering programs and services.
  • Experience working with and within communities experiencing health inequities, including youth, Black, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
  • Able to skillfully manage competing priorities, manage projects efficiently and effectively and nurture and maintain good relationships.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to: equity, anti-racism and anti-oppression goals and principles; sexual and reproductive rights; being youth 2SLGBTQIA+, sex and sex work positive and being inclusive of diverse sexual and gender identities.
  • Ability to work with assignments demanding critical judgment, analytical thinking and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of technological acuity, including Office 365/MS Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive), and familiarity with electronic medical record systems an asset.
  • Ability to work in alignment with PPT’s strategic plan.
  • Demonstrated interest in and ability to be responsive to emerging client and community needs as identified by the agency.
  • Demonstrated planning, teamwork and organizational abilities.
  • Commitment to pro-choice philosophy.
