LOCATION: Hybrid - Downtown (36B Prince Arthur Avenue), North York (940 Sheppard Ave West), and Scarborough

STARTING SALARY: $53,906.29

FTE STATUS AND HOURS: 1.0 FTE; 37.5 hours per week (some evenings and weekends may be required)

DURATION: 2-Year Contract

DEADLINE TO APPLY: October 14, 2025 Planned Parenthood Toronto is a fully accredited community health centre that provides primary health care services to youth (13 to 29 years) as well as health promo�on programming, educa�on, training and research to improve the health and well-being of Toronto’s diverse communi�es. We are currently seeking a Health Equity Promoter – Black Health Team to work 37.5 hours a week Planned Parenthood Toronto (PPT) became a registered charitable organiza�on and began providing direct sexual health services in 1969. In 1983, PPT opened the House Teen Health Centre for youth aged 13 to 25 and in 1990, PPT became a licensed Community Health Centre. PPT does the following: With youth aged 13-29:


• Provide primary care, gender-affirming care, mental health services and sexual health services including abortion care,


• Deliver community, wellness and peer-support educa�on programs,
• Conduct community-based research,
• Provide comprehensive, accurate, youth-friendly sexual health informa�on on

• Collaborate with other youth-serving organiza�ons and partners,
• Advocate for youth-focused legisla�on, policy and prac�ces related to sexual and

reproduc�ve health care, overall health and well-being,
• Influence public opinion about sexual and reproduc�ve jus�ce.

PPT’s programs and services are co-designed by youth, anchored in peer engagement and educa�on and delivered crea�vely using digital tools and technology. POSITION OVERVIEW The Health Equity Promoter is a core part of PPT’s Black Health Team which includes the Black Reproduc�ve Health Ini�a�ve and the Black 2SLGBTQ+ Mental Health Ini�a�ve. This role works closely with the Manager of Health Equity, repor�ng under the Director of Community Programs, and will assess community health needs, develop, implement and evaluate health promo�on programming provided by Planned Parenthood Toronto. They will work from our main Toronto office and be responsible for developing programming and facilita�ng workshops offsite across the GTA, with a specific focus on our mobile or satellite spaces in North York and Scarborough. Informed by social jus�ce, community development, health equity and the social determinants of health, this posi�on works to empower Black youth through engaging, trauma-informed educa�on and peer- based mental and reproduc�ve health programs. This posi�on requires a meaningful understanding of Reproduc�ve Jus�ce and the specific impacts facing Black, racialized and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. This role also involves working with a Black Youth Advisory Commitee to create capacity building resources for service providers working with Black and QTBIPOC youth. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience championing culturally safe approaches to health equity through data-informed program design, advocacy, and systems change. Central to this posi�on is building rela�onships with community stakeholders and providing educa�on and resources that address social determinants of health, with a focus on heath inequi�es impac�ng Black youth. RESPONSIBILITIES


• Through community consulta�ons and needs assessments, work with Black and racialized youth to iden�fy emerging needs and trends with respect to their sexual and reproduc�ve health. Conduct outreach ac�vi�es to engage underserved communi�es, iden�fy health equity needs, and promote available resources.


• Develop and deliver culturally relevant health educa�on programs and workshops that address health dispari�es facing Black and racialized communi�es and promote wellness. Act as a resource on sexual health issues for staff and externally with agencies, some�mes informing or leading in resource crea�on.


• Research policy and collaborate with community leaders to address systemic barriers. Support advocacy related to community health needs, including par�cipa�ng in community forums and networks


• Lead in the crea�on and implementa�on of health equity programs and ini�a�ves. Monitor and evaluate program effec�veness and adjust strategies as needed.


• Work closely with healthcare providers, community organiza�ons, and public health agencies to coordinate efforts and ensure a unified approach to health equity.


• Work with the Community Programs team to develop staff and volunteer orienta�on curriculum and materials and the Health Service Team to create pathways to primary care, help determine priori�es and iden�fy health equity needs of Black and racialized youth.


• Collect, analyze, and report data related to health dispari�es and program outcomes. Use data to inform program improvements and advocacy efforts.


• Provide individuals and families with referrals to health and social services, ensuring they have access to the care and support they need.


• Promote and prac�ce cultural humility and sensi�vity in all interac�ons, ensuring respect for the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the communi�es served.


• Represent Planned Parenthood Toronto at community events, forums, and mee�ngs, presen�ng on topics related to health equity and promo�ng the organiza�on’s mission.


• Act in accordance with PPT’s Vision, Mission, Equity Vision, Values and Principles, and Policies and Procedures.


• As it relates to the posi�on, fulfill responsibili�es outlined by the agency’s funders.
• Atend the agency’s all-staff events such as Community Day.
• Par�cipate at staff and team mee�ngs and other ac�vi�es/mee�ngs related to the agency.
• Embody PPT’s brand proposi�on and follow the brand guidelines.
• Ac�vely par�cipates in agency’s accredita�on process as directed by the Execu�ve Director.
• Ac�vely par�cipate in quality improvement ac�vi�es and support a culture of quality

improvement throughout the organiza�on.
• Contribute to a culture of philanthropy at the agency that may include par�cipa�ng in

fundraising ini�a�ves and/or ac�ng as ambassador for the agency.
• Other du�es related to the role or based on agency need, as required.
• This is a hybrid role; while some work may be done remotely, the Health Equity Promoter will

be expected to be onsite at one of the loca�ons mul�ple �mes a week, as well as in the community to run in-person programming.

QUALIFICATIONS


• Post-Secondary degree in Public Health, Social Work, Community Health, or a related field or equivalent work and/or volunteer experience.


• 2-3 years of experience in health promo�on or community-based health equity work, preferably in primary care, or sexual/reproduc�ve health, or youth-focused se�ngs.


• Iden�fies as Black, including those with intersec�ng Indigenous and/or other racialized iden��es, in alignment with the focus and goals of the Black Health Team).


• Demonstrated experience working with youth popula�ons, including an understanding of the unique health needs and social determinants that affect Black youth, young women, and other birthing folks.


• Experience in program development, implementa�on, monitoring and evalua�on with a focus on health equity.


• Thorough understanding of the impacts of systemic oppression, including an�-Black and an�- Indigenous racism, on youth mental health and well-being.


• Clear commitment to sexual and reproduc�ve jus�ce, health equity, and youth posi�ve, 2SLGBTQ posi�ve, sex posi�ve, and sex work posi�ve prac�ce.


• Strong ability to work collabora�vely in an interdisciplinary, community-based team environment.


• Strong interpersonal, writen, and verbal communica�on skills. The ability to speak a second language is an asset.


• Proficiency with electronic medical records and comfort working in a digital environment.


• Ability to work flexibly, including evening hours, and to travel to satellite clinic loca�ons in North York and Scarborough as needed.
