HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES (VOLUNTEER)
Organization: Right to Live Canada
Location: Remote (Canada-wide)
Time Commitment: 12+ hours per week (Flexible)

------ THE MISSION

Canada is currently facing a human rights crisis of international consequence: poverty-driven disability euthanasia (MAiD). Individuals, blocked by state-enforced poverty, are choosing to end their lives with state assistance due to being unable to access essentials such as medical procedures, supportive housing, or even food. This systemic failure has triggered a United Nations investigation, criticism from the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and global condemnation.

Right to Live Canada is engineering the only viable, system-level alternative to this crisis -- Social Brokerage. By creating a pipeline between sources of raw capital and specific one-time support plans ("Stability Mandates") for individuals in the process of applying for MAiD, the organization creates the "viable alternative" that the system itself mandates its assessors to find but does not currently provide. This represents the world's first market-based solution to poverty-driven euthanasia and the creation of a social impact credit system which exchanges philanthropic capital for verified, life-affirming outcomes, akin to carbon credits.

Right to Live Canada is currently pre-pilot.

------ THE ROLE

Right to Live Canada is seeking a Volunteer Head of Human Resources to design, build, and run the organization’s people and talent systems. This role exists because the organization depends on continuously recruiting, replacing, and coordinating high-quality volunteers in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.

The Head of Human Resources works directly with the Founder / Executive Director and in coordination with Operations. The operating model is simple: leadership defines needs and priorities; the Head of Human Resources sources talent, builds teams, delegates recruitment work, and ensures volunteer capacity remains sufficient to execute projects.

This role is explicitly hands-on and execution-oriented. The organization is intentionally early-stage and informal; the goal is not to impose heavy corporate process, but to ensure the right people are consistently in the right roles.

------ RESPONSIBILITIES

--- Own volunteer recruitment end-to-end, from intake to placement to replacement
--- Translate organizational needs into concrete recruitment targets and role postings
--- Expand recruitment channels, including placement on top-tier university job boards and career portals (e.g., Ivy League, U15, major Canadian and US universities)
--- Establish and manage co-op, practicum, and unpaid internship pipelines with universities and colleges
--- Manage existing recruitment infrastructure, including Google Sheets, Wix-based volunteer forms, CharityVillage, and VolunteerConnector
--- Actively monitor volunteer engagement and performance and replace contributors who disengage or underperform
--- Build, manage, and delegate to a team of HR and recruitment volunteers
--- Maintain lightweight tracking systems for roles, status, and availability without over-formalization
--- Coordinate with Operations to ensure staffing aligns with active projects and timelines

------ WHO THIS IS FOR

This role is for someone who is comfortable recruiting in a no-compensation environment and understands how to attract strong candidates using mission, responsibility, and resume value rather than pay.

This role is a good fit for someone who:
--- Has experience in HR, talent acquisition, campus recruitment, or volunteer coordination
--- Has worked with or built recruitment teams before
--- Is comfortable sourcing candidates proactively rather than waiting for applications
--- Understands university recruitment systems, job boards, and internship programs
--- Can manage turnover without treating it as failure
--- Is reliable, pragmatic, and comfortable operating in an early-stage organization

This role is NOT a fit for individuals who require mature HR infrastructure, avoid performance-based decisions, or are uncomfortable replacing volunteers who are not contributing.

------ WHAT'S IN IT FOR THE VOLUNTEER

--- Executive-level ownership of a national recruitment and talent function
--- Direct collaboration with the Founder / Executive Director
--- Portfolio-grade experience building and running real recruitment systems
--- LinkedIn skill endorsements reflecting verified contributions
--- Formal letter of reference upon successful completion
--- Exposure to top-tier academic and professional networks
