The Community Climate Council (CCC) is a committed team of volunteers in Peel Region driven
by the urgency of the climate crisis. Through a combination of climate literacy and political
advocacy, we empower our community to push for bold climate policies and take proactive
steps toward change. Founded with the vision of creating a platform for local voices to demand
action, our work is rooted in community-led solutions. We approach every project with a focus
on collaboration, ensuring that our efforts are both community-centered and solutions-driven.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Head of Culture & Engagement to lead and
oversee all human resources and volunteer management functions. In this role, you will be
responsible for supporting volunteer engagement, coordination, training, and policy
enhancement to ensure CCC’s operations run smoothly and meet the needs of our growing
team. This role serves as liaison between volunteers and the management team. You will
provide insight on how volunteers are doing, their engagement level, and offer solutions to
better meet their needs and ensure they are having fun along the way!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination: â Recruit and retain volunteers based on organizational needs. â Lead and maintain outreach to post-secondary institutions to build relationships
and create internship opportunities for students.
â Screen, interview, select, and match volunteers to appropriate roles based on skills and availability.
â Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, offering ongoing support and guidance.
â Ensure volunteers are well-informed about their roles, have necessary resources, and understand expectations.
â Recommend comprehensive training programs for the CCC to offer volunteers, including ongoing professional development.
• Program Management & Evaluation: â Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of volunteer
programs and initiatives.
â Collect feedback from volunteers and stakeholders, preparing reports on program success and areas for improvement.
â Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records, including hours worked, roles, and personal details.
â Develop and review organizational policies to ensure consistent operations.
• Communication & Collaboration:
â Coordinate with other departments to identify volunteer needs and ensure appropriate assignments.
â Communicate regularly with volunteers through emails, slack messages,and meetings to keep them engaged and informed.
â Serve as the liaison between volunteers and senior management or other stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution: â Address and resolve any issues or conflicts between volunteers, staff, or within
teams, ensuring positive relationships and outcomes, using existing protocols
that are in place at CCC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Skills and Experience: â Proven working experience in Human Resources, Volunteer Management or
Non-profit Management, preferably within a non-profit environment.
â Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of volunteers and stakeholders.
â Excellent leadership and project management skills. â Familiarity with database management and administrative tools, like Google
Sheets.
â Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack & Asana. â Experience creating training materials or facilitating training opportunities is a
strong asset.
â Experience in event planning or community outreach is a bonus.
