
Gutsy Walk Co-Chair - Edmonton
Help lead one of Canada’s biggest fundraising events and make a difference in your community!
Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event, celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Volunteers are essential to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. Your work helps improve the lives of people living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis across Canada.
We are looking for a motivated volunteer to join the Gutsy Walk leadership team as a Co-Chair. You will work closely with the Chair, staff partner, and committee members to plan and deliver a successful Gutsy Walk, helping to raise funds for research and support people affected by these diseases.
Are you the right fit for the team?
As a Gutsy Walk Co-Chair, you will share leadership responsibilities with the Chair, support the committee, and help ensure the event runs smoothly. Your contributions may include:
- Following Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct
- Working with the Chair, staff partner, and committee members to plan and deliver a successful event
- Supporting committee members to reach goals for participation, fundraising, and event tasks
- Co-facilitating meetings, coordinating timelines, and tracking deliverables
- Communicating regularly with the Chair and staff partner about progress, challenges, and new opportunities
- Assisting with managing the event budget, tracking expenses, and reviewing financial updates
- Participating in national trainings and webinars to stay informed about tools and processes
- Acting as a role model by supporting fundraising through personal involvement, creative ideas, and community promotion
- Attending and supporting the Gutsy Walk event, ensuring it is welcoming and inclusive for all
- Helping with post-event activities such as thank-you messages, feedback collection, and celebrating results
- Gaining leadership experience with the potential to move into the Chair role in a future year
This role involves virtual and/or in-person interactions.
Location: Edmonton and online support as needed
Time Commitment
- Approximately 6–10 hours per month, increasing closer to the event
- Monthly committee meetings and additional check-ins leading up to the walk
- Some daytime availability helpful for calls and emails
- Minimum commitment: 6 months
What You Bring
- Experience or interest in fundraising, event planning, or community engagement
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- A collaborative and adaptable leadership style
- Friendly, community-minded approach with a focus on inclusion and follow-through
- Willingness to learn about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
- Comfort with email, web browsers, and video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
