Unpaid Volunteer Position

Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases.

This role involves in-person interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct
  • Lead Gutsy Walk Check-In and manage the intake of funds
  • Attend committee meetings at the request of the Gutsy Committee and staff partner to collaborate with other committee members as needed
  • Participate in webinar trainings offered nationally to be familiar with processes and tools available to you
  • Collaborate with your staff partner and other committee members and determine registration needs.
  • Provide relevant orientation and training, as well as ongoing support and supervision to registration volunteers
  • Submit Event Day Tally Summary to staff partner immediately after the event ends
  • Collaborate with a designated accounting leader to ensure accurate fund intake, and arrange pre-banking nights as necessary
  • Ensure effective Check-in process and positive event day experiences for all stakeholders

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 4-8 hours a month including monthly committee meetings, with additional meetings leading up to event day as well as a post-event wrap up meeting
  • Some evening and weekend activity may be required
  • Some daytime availability is ideal for phone calls, and emails

What you bring:

  • Strong attention to detail, previous banking/accounting experience an asset.
  • Enjoys processes, record keeping, and interacting with the public
  • Excellent ability to clearly communicate instructions and establish organized processes for self and others
  • Able to work quickly yet efficiently to ensure that registration is error-free on event day
