KHP works collaboratively with the KHP Foundation, which launched January 1st, 2026. The KHP Foundation raises funds across Canada to deliver on KHP’s promise to youth. The KHP Foundation is supported by a shared services business model.
The opportunity
Reporting to President and CEO, KHP’s incoming Group Head and EVP, Finance and Operations, provides strategic and operational leadership for all financial and operational functions of the organization, including oversight of a $40M annual operating budget, long-term financial planning, and enterprise-wide resource allocation. This role leads the annual budgeting process, ensures strong financial governance, internal controls, risk management, audit, compliance, and reporting, and plays a key role in shaping and delivering the KHP’s multi-year strategic and operating plans. The EVP partners closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Board to safeguard organizational assets, ensure financial sustainability, and support mission achievement.
The responsibilities
- Develops, leads, and implements KHP’s $40 million annual operating plan, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, effective resource allocation, financial sustainability, and performance monitoring across KHP
- Significantly contributes to KHP’s multi-year strategic and operating planning and development process to ensure that proper financial, insurance, legal and regulatory policies, practices and controls are in place
- Acts as strategic advisor to the business and to the CEO.
- Responsible for best-in-class financial reporting, internal audit and controls, processes and deliverables, including accounting policies, non-profit reporting requirements, financial forecasts, cash flow forecasts and contingency planning, to ensure an appropriate balance of risks, investments, return and liquidity.
- Oversight for the development and maintenance of complex financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning; create scenario analysis to evaluate financial impact of strategic decisions.
- Provides leadership to all departments in the development of the annual budget, monitors performance against plan and reports on KHP’s current and long-term financial position to ensure its financial viability.
- Maintains a collaborative working relationship with the Board of Directors and the Treasurer in supporting the Finance and Risk Committees of the Board and other Committees
- Provides quarterly reports to the Finance and Risk Committee of the Board on performance to plan, organizational risk assessment and evaluation, investment strategies, and audit planning among others.
- Has responsibility for facilities management, overseeing the maintenance, safety, and optimization of all KHP locations to support effective service delivery.
- Works collaboratively with the KHP Foundation to integrate fundraising revenues, donor restrictions, and funding strategies into enterprise-wide financial planning and resource allocation.
- Drives modernization of the Finance and Operations function through technology, digital tools, and automation to enable a future-ready organization.
- Oversight responsibility for our Enterprise Risk Management Program and Internal Risk Management Committee, including our Privacy, Security and Risk Program.
- Acts as Privacy Officer for KHP.
- Assist with negotiation and management of contractual agreements.
The requirements
This is an exceptional senior executive opportunity for an outstanding finance and business leader who possesses the following education, experience and competencies:
- You are a CPA with at least 15 years in progressive finance leadership roles, within both the profit and not for profit sectors
- You have a proven track record of financial controls and reporting, strategic planning, operational decision making, financial technology innovation, analytics and data modelling,
- Experience as a Privacy Officer is an asset.
- You are an exceptional strategic financial leader, team player and hands-on “doer” with the proven ability to prioritize and deliver results.
- An outstanding relationship builder, the EVP, Finance and Operations understand and communicate priorities and is a thoughtful and high-integrity leader. They relate well to others and effectively build rapport with all levels of the organization.
- An outstanding collaborator who builds trust and seeks to understand the perspective of others so that change is transparent, dependable and reflects meaningful input from others.
- An exceptional communicator who translates complex financial concepts, so they are easily understood by all. Communicates with calm, confidence and humility. Listens deeply and shows curiosity and views different opinions with an open mind before making judgements.
- A motivational and people centric leader, the collaborative EVP, Finance and Operations has strong emotional intelligence and models an inclusive and dynamic culture and ensures individuals are highly engaged and can confidently make data-based decisions that are outcomes-driven.
- The EVP, Finance and Operations have a deep understanding of governance and understands the expectations and duties of care to KHP and its Board, as well as the essential issues relating to legal and financial framework governing non-profit organizations.
- You have deep expertise in establishing and maintaining processes, internal controls, risk management practices, and audit readiness
- Ability to travel across Canada (<5%)
