Graphic Designer (Volunteer)

The Etobicoke Humane Society (EHS) is a 100% volunteer-run, no-kill animal shelter serving the Etobicoke community since 1987. We rely on the skills and dedication of volunteers to give cats and dogs the care — and second chance — they deserve.

We are seeking a Graphic Designer to join our Communications, Marketing, and Fundraising team. In this role, you will bring creativity and design expertise to campaigns and initiatives that raise awareness, drive adoptions, and support fundraising efforts.

What You’ll Do

● Design engaging visuals, including:

● Social media graphics, website banners, and eCards

● Posters, flyers, and event collateral

● Annual reports and other publications

● Work collaboratively with the Communications team to ensure consistent branding and messaging.

● Manage multiple requests, balancing priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications

● Minimum 1 year experience in graphic design (agency, nonprofit, freelance, or in-house).

● Strong portfolio showcasing design skills across print and digital.

● Proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent) and reliable access to the tools you use.

● Understanding of design concepts, typography, layout, and color theory.

● Strong organizational and time management skills.

● Collaborative attitude and ability to work with a volunteer-driven team.

● Comfort around cats and dogs (occasional on-site visits may be required).

Time Commitment

● Approximately 3–5 hours per week, with flexibility.

● Hours may increase during major projects (e.g., Annual Report, campaign launches).
