Graphic Designer/ Video Editor Volunteer

Position Title: Graphic Designer/ Video Editor Volunteer

Volunteer Type: Virtual

Location: Online

Volunteer Hours: 1-3 hrs./wk.

Volunteers Needed: 3

Reports to: Content Writing Team Lead

Position Summary:

The Graphic Designer Volunteer will work with staff from the Volunteer Services Department and other SPLC teams to design creative materials such as flyers, posters, and layouts for the bi-monthly volunteer newsletter. Volunteers will also be responsible for creating and managing a series of “How to Use Better Impact” tutorial videos, which will be distributed to all new SPLC volunteers as part of their onboarding process.

This role provides an opportunity to contribute creatively to SPLC’s communication efforts and to develop professional design experience in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design posters, flyers, and other promotional materials using provided content and guidelines.
  • Create layouts for the volunteer bi-monthly newsletter in collaboration with the Content Writing Team.
  • Ensure all assigned projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
  • Attend monthly team meetings.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Creative and innovative mindset.
  • Proficient in Canva and other graphic design software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Fun, positive, and collaborative attitude.

Working Environment

  • Remote, work-from-home setting.
  • Extended periods of computer use may be required.
  • May experience occasional work interruptions.

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation on SPLC’s organizational policies and procedures, including COVID-19 measures, conducted by Volunteer Services.
  • IPAC Mandatory Training (for onsite positions).
  • Organizational Training for all new volunteers.
  • Food Handler’s Certification is an asset but not required.

Other Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check screening (mandatory).
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a Medical Exemption Certificate (mandatory).
  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Commitment of 1–3 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months.
