Compensation: $68,468-$75,057

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice (CPCH) is British Columbia’s recognized pediatric palliative care provider. For over two decades, through the many programs and services we provide, we have made a significant difference in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and the families who love them. YOUR ROLE
JOB SUMMARY
The Graphic Designer role reports to the Director, Marketing & Communications. You are passionate about creative communications, with a strong ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging visual content across print and digital platforms. You are responsible for working with many different Canuck Place internal teams to create materials that support strategic priorities, raise brand recognition, drive fundraising revenue, and foster a meaningful connection to the care and experiences of children and families on our program.
RESPONSIBILITIES – 100%
- As a member of the Communications team, you collaborate, ideate, and execute creative assets for both digital and print projects, working cross-functionally with fundraising, events, clinical, and leadership teams to translate diverse needs into cohesive creative outputs.
- Upholds Canuck Place brand guidelines, ensuring that our brand positioning is consistently presented while meeting the business needs of the organization.
- Supports the development of clinical communications materials, translating complex and sometimes sensitive healthcare information into clear, accessible, and visually engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Applies a trauma-informed and inclusive approach to design, particularly when working with family stories and clinical content.
- Designs materials with accessibility in mind, including readability, inclusive imagery, and adherence to digital and print accessibility standards where applicable.
- Ensures successful delivery of multiple projects by managing design deliverables and timelines.
- Designs and leads development of creative projects for various teams across the organization, including marketing and communication materials for internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated artistic and conceptual abilities in creating both digital and print designs for engaging and dynamic user experiences.
- Committed to keeping up to date with marketing and design trends. You are a creative thinker and problem solver participating in projects from concept through to execution.
- You can execute work following set art direction while using your creativity to adapt and optimize the direction as required.
- Ability to present concepts and facilitate discussions/feedback sessions with confidence.
- Experience with printing processes and requirements for different types of print formats. You will prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications. Liaise with various vendors including printers and supports vendor coordination of production as required.
- Collaborates with teams to optimize creative assets for performance across digital channels.
- Prepare and optimize files for both digital and print production, ensuring accurate colour profiles, resolutions, and formats.
- Supports asset management and governance of digital assets, including tagging, usage guidelines, and version control.
- Assumes other related responsibilities, as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in graphic design, communications, marketing, or a related discipline and a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in graphic design, in both print and digital or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience in shooting in manual mode on DSLRs, video production and editing, motion graphics and other digital media products are an asset.
- Experience in video production and editing are an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS
What you bring to the role:
- Strong design skills – new and innovative. Expert understanding of branding, layout, graphics, typography, and colour theory; ability to conceptualize from a creative brief, design and execute, with an impeccable eye for detail and accuracy
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong attention to detail in design and proofreading
- Excellent multi-tasking and project coordination skills; ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines independently
- Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team player and establish and maintain positive working relationships
- Demonstrates initiative, resourceful, and thoughtful in the decision-making process
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Flexibility around changing priorities
- Tact, diplomacy, and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential situations
- Familiar with Slack, Trello, Dropbox, Mailchimp, OneDrive, WordPress
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
- Experience with multilingual products and translation layout is an asset
- Basic HTML knowledge is an asset

Please note:
- Evidence of Health Canada approved vaccinations must be provided prior to your first day of work.
- Flexibility is necessary, as this position requires weekend and evening work and travel within and outside the Lower Mainland, including Vancouver and Abbotsford, for events and important quarterly meetings.
- A vehicle and clear driving record may be required for this role.
