About R&E Ocean Community Conservation:
R&E Ocean Community Conservation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to marine conservation through scientific research, data collection, and community engagement. We work with coastal communities to promote education, training, and involvement in conservation initiatives. Our projects span diverse locations across North and Latin America, Antarctica, and other regions. Our focus extends beyond whales to marine ecosystems, including whales, dolphins, sea turtles, whale sharks, and other species. Our mission is to generate scientific knowledge while empowering communities to protect marine environments through sustainable practices.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Graphic Designer with a strong background in nature-inspired art to support our branding, marketing, and merchandise design needs. This volunteer role will be integral in developing visuals that communicate our conservation message and engage our audience across social media, promotional materials, and merchandise products.
Responsibilities:
- Design compelling graphics for branding, social media, website, and promotional materials.
- Develop merchandise designs (e.g., t-shirts, stickers, tote bags, posters) featuring marine conservation themes.
- Create visually engaging content to support fundraising campaigns, educational programs, and outreach initiatives.
- Ensure consistency in branding across all visual materials.
- Work closely with the team to develop creative storytelling visuals that align with our mission and values.
- Adapt designs for various print and digital formats.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in graphic design, illustration, or digital art, preferably with a focus on nature, wildlife, or marine conservation.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or equivalent design software.
- Experience in designing for merchandise and branding (e.g., logos, apparel, eco-friendly products).
- Strong understanding of social media graphics and visual storytelling.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and contribute creative ideas.
- Passion for marine conservation and community engagement.
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations or conservation initiatives.
- Familiarity with eco-conscious design principles and sustainable materials.
- Illustration skills, particularly with marine and wildlife themes.
